In this Landmark case a Massachusetts teen was convicted of Vehicular Homicide due to texting. I heard on TV that his license will be suspended for 15 years after he gets out of prison which seems like a long period, but I don't know how that compares to other offenses.

I never talk on my phone or text when driving, but I know many people that do. I even know someone who lost control and hit a telephone pole because he was texting. Luckily, he wasn't seriously injured. I just feel there is nothing that important that it can't wait a few minutes.

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this?

Yeah I agree with this. Just on Monday a guy in front of us was texting while driving. At first I thought he was bending down to talk to a little kid. But then I realized he was hunched over a phone. Of course he stayed stopped when the light turned green. Stuff like this may be the only way to get people to stop doing it.

I had already shared the story with my soon to be 16 year old daughter.
