I never felt I was good enough for college football but I don't want this to be my last year playing football. Does anyone know any secrets to getting a football scholarship? I'm a 5'10 170lb Safety also white we seem to get recruited less.

Who is supposed to be checking IDs in this Bar???

Quick Hit for the OP: If you feel you have never been good enough for College Football...you are not good enough for College Football.

Your HS head coach should be able to help in some areas. He may know small school scouts and get tape to them or give you a recommendation. D III is likely your best bet. If they don't find you, you aren't cut out for division 1.

I would avoid a private D3 school at all costs just to continue playing a sport. They will most likely rape you with tuition and give little athletic scholarship, if at all. Essentially what I'm saying is, don't mortgage your future by going to an extremely expensive school just because you don't want to give up a sport that you will likely quit in 2 years.

Some of it depends on the area you’re in. The high school I went to was a small area power house, so if you started by your junior year you were essentially guaranteed a scholarship to, at minimum, a D3 school.

I’d sit down with your coach and go over it with him. He can help you get better at areas you need to improve in and help prepare you.

oh you're still in high school....that explains a lot. Have you tried sending out your tape to different colleges and universities?

if u be got the love for the game... id recommend jc... use a guud two years to get better n jacked.. get up to about 205-215 then transfer or walk on to d school.... if u ball u may get that paper

btw start bulking now... go even harder once your sr season is over.. try n put on 10-20 pounds before school be out

once u be transfer from jc to a d school go talk to coach if u be walking on... be on top of yo eligibility.. cause us is may need to red shirt dat first yr if you is on the outside looking in....

Most have nice financial aid packages. My folks and I wound up paying about 40% of sticker price. I did play one year of football, and because there aren't scholarships in D3, the money that I got for agreeing to play came in the form of a grant so it was available regardless of whether I stayed on the team or not. Would up being about $16k over 4 years for that one season, and that was over 20 years ago.

Nope, not buyin it, I remember just a year or 2 ago you asking the board what were some good IPAs to drink. You were going out to celebrate your 21st birthday.
