I have spoken to many Bulls fans about MJs two seasons in Washington and I have found very few who enjoyed him playing for the Wizards. I understand that he retired on the greatest note ever however I felt it was to early for him to leave the game and I was so happy when he came back. I felt i took MJ for granted when he was here and when he retired I felt sad, i was loosing my passion for the game, the Bulls were embarassing and many players from the 80s and early 90s were aging and leaving the game. The NBAs talent quality was dwindling and the league was filled with thugs. So when MJ came back it made me happy, it saved me as a fan. I watched more Wizards games than Bulls games in those two years. I went to MJs first game as a Wizard. It was odd to see him in blue however it was amazing to see what he could do on a bad knee. His fadeaway and mid-range game was better than ever. I feel his two years as a Wizard are often forgotten when people talk about him. Sure they didnt go to the playoffs and MJ was banged up however those two years were my favorite as an NBA fan.

Ends rant

i totally agree with you on this. everyone refers to the wiz-stint as an embarrassment that should be forgotten, but i dont feel that way at all. i was ecstatic when i heard he was coming back, and no one else can deny that they were too. he sold out ANY arena he played in those couple years. talk about legendary! and his game was still as sharp as it could be in his physical condition.

It was rediculous how this org wouldn't give him a job. He would have come back here and that would have been great. The only reason we look down at the second comeback was because it wasn't with us.

He didn't come to Chicago looking for a job. Reinsdorf is not selling the team so, what was he going to do with MJ? Make him a GM?

There is one of a hundred things to do. He could sell him a small part of the team, he owned about 5% of the wizards, he could have been an assistant coach, a scout, a development guy, assistant gm, he could have had a ton of normal roll jobs. We offered him nothing and that is why none of the big dynasty guys work here. Phil and Scottie are with the lakers, MJ was with the wiz and now bobcats, Steve Kerr is with the Suns. The only guys who officially worked with the bulls were pax, cartwright and bj for a little.

I still refuse to remember the Wiz years, but he still averaged 20ppg, a 40 year-old NBA player has never done that before, so Mike in his forties still was setting precedents, I don't think Kobe is doing that at 40

Are you kidding me? Assistant coach? Who are you talking about here, assistant gm? I don't know if you noticed, but Jordan has a HUGE ego. Pippen doesn't want to be an assistant, what makes you think Jordan does! Normal role jobs?
Jordan wants to call the shots, I DONT WANT HIM CALLING THE SHOTS FOR THE BULLS!!! Great player, when it comes to personnel decisions, he is no Jerry West. And what the heck makes you think he wants to work under Jerry Krause? Steve Kerr sucks as a GM too. He was better as a commentator on TNT. Just because people played here does not mean they will be successful in front office jobs, and look at what Reinsdorf did for Randy Brown....

Here's my take on the whole thing. MJ left on bad terms with the team, got a job with the Wiz, tried to run the team for 2 years & was incredibly unsuccessful. So he took the court to try & get the team to the playoffs with the purpose of sticking it to the Bulls by saying "Hey I got my team to the playoffs before you guys did." And he still didn't get them to the playoffs.

Honestly, MJ's time with the Wiz set that organization back about 3 years. He accomplished nothing as a VP of Bball Ops, & nothing as a player/owner, which let's face it that's what he was when he played for them. And the owner was so fed up with MJ in general he fired him afterward, after "promising" MJ he would have his job back when he retired, yet again.

MJ on the Wiz was a black mark on an astounding career. About the only good that came out of it was I got to see MJ play for a couple more years, though he looked incredibly old & slow, & he was the oldest All-Star ever. I never mention it, never think about it, & act as if it never existed.

MJ as an assistant, that's classic. Maybe we should have offered him the towel boy job. Jeez! A guy with a planetary-sized ego like Jordan wouldn't be caught dead being a scout or assistant.

I wouldn't want MJ running anything on the Bulls because he SUCKS AT RUNNING TEAMS! I love MJ, & he may be the GOAT, but when it comes to personnel & coaching decisions, he stinks. We've all seen what he did with the Wiz & now with the Bobcats. Just because a guy was an amazing player does not mean he will be an amazing coach/gm/owner one day. Karl Malone is one of the greatest PF's ever, but would I want him running my team, HELL NO! He's dumb as rocks!

No way MJ would want a job like that of an assistant. He's too good for that...and too egotistical. Well maybe not too good for it...he may be an Isiah like coach.
