IT'S THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY. Something Lebron couldn't factor in during his decision because it's something you notice after a while of living there. I am from Miami. I've always said that Wade should move to a city where he could really be appreciated (not that he's not appreciated) but the appreciation starts somewhere in the middle of the playoffs.
It has and always will be a big F-Ball- Dolphins/Canes town. But just look at the Marlins....now they're building a new stadium in the heart of Little Havana thinking if they put it closer to the spanish people, they will come. FALSE. They'll go just to brag about being in the new stadium, and then it will fade.
There is something ultimately superficial about the city, and I'm from there so I HATE to say it. There are good things to take from it, but a whole lotta crap that makes you scratch your head. I've only been to Chicago once in August, enough for me to realize what a real city is with real sports fans. With a real music scene and a real art scene. So......I'm moving there in February.
This is just the beginning of the season for the new Heat, the plot will thicken as the games roll along. I assume that James already asked Wade "Where are all your fans"? This "Fan Up" campaign is no surprise at all. You can't manufacture fans. It's just not gonna happen. Basketball is not in the culture down here unless there's a ring involved.
The people of Miami don't care unless your making a run for a championship, and that's when everyone will dust off their Wade jerseys. If you do tattoos, they dont care unless it's on LA ink, if you play music they don't care unless it's on MTV......my city has failed me. This article is just a portion of why.
Sad, but true.
