He went 0-fer last night but did finally get his 1st walk since May 1st. When Theriot got back in the dugout he gave Piniella a high five to joke about his slump.

Piniella rewarded Theriot by sitting his back on the bench where he and his .305 on base % belong.

Theriot's been in a helluva slump...but he's the only speed we have on the team. Playing AL ball in the NL won't win.

Yeah man. Totally agree about the AL ball in NL. But it's been Hendry's metatlity since he got here. Homerun or bust. Obviously we haven't been hitting the homeruns haha.

And just to argue.... What good is Theriot's speed if he is never on base to use it? I mean he's not heads and shoulders above Fontenot in speed and Fontenot is a lefty with a lot more pop than his LSU teammate.

I'm not saying Fontenot should be the everyday starter, but I'd at least platoon them for now until Theriot starts hitting above .300 again.

And another thing on Theriot, he isn't even that good stealing bases (I don't know the numbers, but I believe he has been tremendously better this year than last).

Theriot is 9 for 10 in SB Chances this season, and 93-123 in his career (76%).
Fontenot is 1 for 2 this year, and 12 for 18 in his career.

Maybe you were thinking about someone else, but Theriot is faster and a better base stealer than Fontenot. Neither hit for a great avg, but Theriot has a much better BB/K Ratio over his career, too.

Now, we may need a slight change to jump-start Theriot, but to put it in perspective, if we could only have one next year, I'll take Theriot 9 times outta 10.

I was definitely thinking of Theriot. I know he's quicker on the bases than Fontenot but last year Theriot was caught stealing 10 times and for some reason THOSE stuck with me. I just remember them being awful jumps where he was out by a mile.

And the BB/K ratio is fine and I won't argue that. But it's about what he's doing this year. His past stats aren't helping him this year.

I think we can both agree that neither is a complete player without faults and Fontenot proved that last year that he wasn't a full time player.

I think it'd be best right now to platoon them at least until Theriot snaps out of it. We can't keep running the same people out there for months at a time waiting for them to pick it up. If we do that, by the time they figure it out we'll be double digit games out and it won't matter anymore.

Just like Lou said, "too much patience is stupidity."

Platooning is probably a good idea for the two for now...Glad he's decided to leave A-Ram and Lee in tho.

Yeah, we have 0% chance of competing without those 2 hitting. But I'd like to see Aram out of the 4 spot until he consistently starts hitting.

I want Lee in the lineup if for no other reason his glove. He saves Aram, Castro and especially Theriot every day with his defense.

Yeah he did. Figures though since I'm raggin' on him. But it's 1 game. Aram went 0-fer so thats just peachy.

It would be nice if Theriot could go on a good hitting streak soon and boost his trade value. In theory the Tigers should be really interested bc they just cut their shortstop

Seriously, I swear Theriot is trying to make me look like an ass.

Today he goes 2-3 with 4 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Not to mention 2 walks.

Hopefully he keeps this up.

lmao - I was thinking of that earlier...like "Damn, maybe Theriot knows Will?" haha

Nah, maybe Lou got to him, or maybe he's just fo'real breaking out of a bad slump.

No joke. Hopefully he's breaking out of it for good. By far his best game of the year.

I just want to see the guys that are contributing to play. And if that means Theriot then so be it.

Ahh.... There's the Theriot we all know and love. 0-5 and trying to bunt? Awesome...

As bad as Theriot was tonight, gotta blame Marmol, Fontenot and Byrd just as much.

This team is hard to watch sometimes. :(

100% correct.

I wasn't blaming Theriot for the loss. I just thought that I'd promote my anti-riot thread haha. Especially after the game he had yesterday.

HORRIBLE loss. Just BAD!
