I picked up a smith machine off craigslist a few years ago for $50. It was almost like new. I added some lube to the chain, and it works better than new.

Smith Machine + cheap bench > Nice bench, standard rack.

And the thing is, so many people buy workout equipment because they are motivated, but they use it like 4-5 times and go "**** this shit" and never use it again. So you can find some awesome stuff for super cheap.

Awww hell no.

Smith machines fucking rule. I don't know where you got that idea from. You can't go heavy without a spotter, unless you use a smith machine. If you have the bearing assist smith machines, yeah, those aren't that great because the bar gets stuck, but if you have cable assist, then it's smooth flowing all day lawng!

Smith Machines are a waste of time.

Found a Bowflex Sport (used) for $200. Anyone know anything about this machine? Is it a good buy for $200?

Bowflexes aren't bad at all. Nothing is better than free weights for isolation, IMO, but for a gimmick bench, some of the bowflex designs were brilliant.

Of course, until some smart-ass came up with better strap designs, and instead of owning a large item, you could buy some variable resistance elastic straps to do the same thing for much less. LOL You would be back at square one, because you want an actual bench.
