I have to go to a Halloween Party next weekend and was wondering if anyone has some good ideas for costumes. I don't want anything too elaborate cause I want to be comfortable, but I still like to be different and unique. If I have to I can recycle an old costume, but prefer not to. In the recent past I have been Fiona from Shrek, but I don't have really long hair anymore and I could use the same dress and be a Medieval Lady, but then I have to worry about the girls popping out and tripping over my dress all night. I think the Carrie Potter (cross between Harry Potter and Carrie Bradshaw) ship has sailed. I still have my Velma wear from when we went as the Scooby Gang, but Velma alone just won't do. And I have a talking doll dress with a big pull string. I just want something simple but clever this year. Any ideas will be appreciated, well most of them anyway.

What are you guys going to be?

I like the Medieval lady costume. But that is probably because I'm thinking about your girls. :D

I think I'm going to go as a Chilean miner. All I need is some dirty jeans, t-shirt, construction hat, maybe a flashlight and some dirt on my face and I'm good.

Just be creative I guess. You could be any type of profession and dress sexy and be a slutty whatever. That's pretty popular amongst girls.

I don't have any suggestions really...

I've always got dressed up with "real" clothes, as opposed to costumes. Thus, I'll be Groucho Marx as opposed to a Hamburger...

I usually visit local used clothing stores to pick out stuff. This year, my wife and I are going as Lennon and Yoko. (pics later).

Here I am as Bud the Zombie (my wife is the kitty cat):

I think the major crowd favorite I've ever done was a mental hospital escapee:

Napoleon Hat

Straight Jacket

Hip Waders

It helped that my hair was also done up like an 80's rockstar and I can apparenly do a psychopath pretty well. Plus, bursting in the room struggling against that straightjacket yeling, "Sacre Bleu!!!!" helped as well.

Personally, I prefer costumes that are edgy, controversial, and plain wrong. A freind of mine while pregnant once went as a nun. Another guy did a 2-for by going to one party dressed as Michael Jackson with a fake kid strapped to his leg, and then went to another party as a Catholic Priest with the same fake kid straped to his leg.

And of course who could forget the guy who went as Dale Earnhardt, Sr. as a guy in a beat-to-hell racing suit with a steering wheel around his neck.

Since you're a Blackhawks fan, I say just go as an Ice Girl.

Throw on a Hawks jersey and you're set.

Am I suppose to wear anything underneath?

I think the guys would prefer you didn't.

How about this...get a nurse outfit, ut have it covered in blood an ask the guys there to turn their head and cough...

That certainly would be scary...

Well my goodness man, if you're gonna suggest she wear a short little plaid skirt at least give her something more titillating than the naughty parochial school girl cliche and suggest instead she go the Prep School---and more specifically the Kill Bill---route and do herself up as the BADASS hellion Gogo Yubari! Sheesh. Plaid skirt, little navy blazer, white blouse with ribbon neck tie, straight black wig with bangs, some white knee socks with sneakers, and most importantly. . .the CHAIN MACE! If she has a couple of guy friends who don't really want to "do" the costume thing then even better because they can don some black suits and put on black eye masks and be her Crazy 88s posse! Now that would be awesome. . .as well as a little disturbing! Thusly perfect for Halloween.
