Braden Norris with three clutch 3s in the overtimes, Ramblers another home comeback win, 81-74 in two OTs over Valpo. 30 straight wins at Gentile. Exhale.
Biggest game of The Valley season to date is today at Missouri State, 1 pm. This is rematch of MoSt 79-69 win at Gentile Center last month, led by star guard Isiaih Mosley’s 40 points, with assorted pull-ups, floaters, and running one-handers against overmatched Loyola defenders. Aside from Mosley, Ramblers failed to convert many wide-open looks early; what was a 2 point game at the half, became a 20 point 2nd half deficit. Loyola did fight back, getting to within six late. It will be interesting to see what Coach Valentine does to contain Mosley and force the rest of the Bears -- spectators at Gentile Center -- into the game.
I heard the game and saw the highlights. Looking at that MoSt. home court for 2+ hours would be too hard on the eyes. Ramblers shot well down the stretch, including free throws, and collapsed on Mosley with double-teams. Gaige Prim (21 pts, 10 reb) was a handful, but they were not going to let Mosley embarrass them again. Big week ahead, at Bradley on Wed., hosting UNI on Sunday (Sold Out!). Both are playing well.Nice win today. The officiating was garbage.

Ramblers 83, UNI 58. That's the way to bounce back from a poor performance.Pathetic showing from the Ramblers tonight. This team should be better with the experience it has.

Well, it was a good season. But Ramblers were just an average shooting team at best, last season too. In the defeats against Oregon State in Sweet Sixteen and today vs. Ohio State, plenty of open looks were not converted. Worse this year, no Cam Krutwig to draw in defenders and help open things up on the perimeter. And yet, with nothing on offense, Loyola fought like hell vs. Buckeyes, to the bitter end. Coach Drew Valentine has that he can build on.
