Just downloaded the Madden 12 Demo for Xbox 360 and played a game. Just wanted to give my thoughts and impressions at first glance/play.
Presentation: Opening cutscene shows an overhead view of Soldier Field. Realistic surroundings, even a shot of the lake. Transitions to the Bears coming onto the field through the smoke out of the giant inflatable Bear-head as Urlacher carries a flag with the Bears "C" to midfield. Coin toss same as past years. Halftime animation is realistic and mimics what you'd see on a Sunday broadcast. Scoreboard overlay was revamped a bit with smooth in-game menus and animations on the scoreboard. Very impressive.
9/10
Graphics: Players look more detailed this year. From blinking to mouth movements and being able to see the stitching on the jerseys. As the game progresses, more dirt accumulates on players' uniforms and dings are seen on the helmets of players in the trenches. Grass looks natural and as players run, patches get dug up by players' cleats. Stadium represents Soldier Field well. Press boxes and suites are legit this year. Skyline can even be seen in the background. Great improvements.
9.5/10
A.I.: Players are more disciplined this year, to a point(John Kuhn of GB had 4 holding penalties LOL). They cut to the ball faster on D and coverage CBs adjust quickly to audibles and changes. Special teams plays have improved vastly. Players stepping away from the ball if it bounces inside the 10, more prone to take a knee in the endzone, etc. Defense was solid and tight(played on All-Madden). Nice overall change.
9/10
Gameplay: The overall feel of Madden remains the same with minor adjustments and upgrades. They've progressed this year with graphics and presentation and kept up with the Madden tradition. Definitely a must-have for any NFL fan.
8.5/10
Overall: 9/10
Only thing negative to say is the rosters are outdated a bit, but I'm sure a roster update will be available either on release date or shortly after. Manning, Kreutz, Olsen and Manumaleuna were all still Bears while Williams, Barber, Spencer and Hurd, etc. were not on the roster.
