So I came across this term the other day and had never heard of it. Basically in the chicken industry if you're male you're useless. You don't lay eggs and you don't make enough meat for slaughter. And since about half of all egg hatches are male..... you have a problem. What do you do with tens of millions of useless male chickens? Well apparently you put them ALIVE at one day old on a conveyor belt that dumps them into a grinder. Yep, tens of millions of cute little fluffy yellow male chickens get ground up ALIVE every year. I decided not to post the video but you can easily look it up on Youtube and see them getting dumped one after another into a grinder and pulverized. It's rather disgusting. Anyways.... I'm no vegan. I like dead animals.... they're tasty and I know slaughter houses are nasty business. Just thought I'd post and see if this is common knowledge? Or something out of sight out of mind?

There is a big problem with factory farming and the like. If you're going to eat meat I suggest hunting, it's far more humane.

Hunting isn't exactly the most practical thing for most people. And I'm not sure I agree about it being more humane. Sure, if you get a perfect shot it's probably a quick death but what about the guy who misses and Bambi suffers a slow agonizing death in the wild?

Found this post on a hunting forum:

"shot a doe in the gut and did what your saying and just trotted off 40 yards then started walking. we found her another 20 yards away about 45 min after i shot and she was bleeding pretty bad. waited an hour and found her 30 yards from that and was not moving but still breathing. put another arrow in her and it was over"

Doesn't sound real humane to me.

kinda ot but if you buy chicken from a grocery store, only buy "air chilled" chicken. Its more expensive but if you research why its better you wont want to buy normie chickens. Forget all the free range, organic, amish, all that stuff. If you buy from a grocer, get air chilled.

Wait, why do you keep emphasizing "ALIVE?" They feel about a nanosecond of pain prior to being chum. I'd go that way in a heartbeat if it were an option.

You don't find it in the least bit fucked up than we grind up animals alive? I get why it's done and agree they probably only feel a nanosecond of pain. It's still rather shocking to see it happen IMO.

I have a turkey sammich for lunch and thought about this thread.

I finished my sammich, so I guess this concept doesn't bother me that much.

BaBa just wait until they start doing it with human males.
