Not surprised about the attack... still saddened by it, but I'm not surprised.... I don't get it... His son and his friends were rooting for Chicago, not him.... Why aren't THEY going to the hospital?

I must admit, the man has a lot of balls for dealing with this attack let alone taking opposing fans to a Wings game.

Unreal... I don't care how drunk you are or how big the rivalry is, show some respect for your fellow human being. I don't know anyone that would actually pick a fight with an opposing fan at the UC. In fact, we've always been pretty friendly to visitors.

not surprised one bit by this. if anyone has ever been to the joe and knows about the walk back through the tunnels to the parking garage, they can see this coming from a mile away. mix in low life that is feeling brave cause they are surrounded by their own and a hawks victory, it's amazing it doesn't happen more often.

this year has been the first time i've missed a game over there in at least 10-12 years. just about every time, i hear it over and over again from some tough guy. pathetic really. for being such a "classy" org their fans sure are pieces of shit.

I noticed it at the VC too, the better the Caps got, the more arrogant the "bandwagon" fans got. The walk from the building to the various Metro stations surrounding it could be a harrowing experience for fans of other teams......specially after a loss

Happens at a lot of venues from many different sports. Not exclusive to the shit hole.

Yeah--heck my niece grew up and lives 10 minutes from JLA and is a Wings fan...she was the one that suggested we go. We had no problems...although I did wear my Esposito jersey to an Ice Hogs game a couple times in Grand Rapids and I have had a couple brushes with trouble there and I did nothing to "incite those" near-incidents other than wearing my jersey.

I've also had Wings fans get mouthy with me in the UC before too...I am a pretty intense fan but would never consider going here. Some people need to dial it back about 5 notches.

My attitude is that when in someone else's barn I make sure I am careful to be respectful, but it LOOKS like these guys were doing that, so this is a warning to go in numbers if going to certain arenas and stick together. Lesson learned.

I had about 4 or 5 guys try to fight me at the ACC after the Hawks beat the Leafs. It happens unfortunately.

Ive neber had an issue with canuck fans at games..but in the streets i have. I find that odd. Obviously thrre are dicks at canucks games but i have yet to run into anyone. Ive been heckled but thats part of the ecperience. Never been physicaly threatened though...and im always in the nose bleeds with the other grease balls.

Last years playoffs some ass in the street tried to run me over. I keyed his car and that ended that.

More security inside than outside. At least in some areas. That's why it probably happens outside more often.

Really, you pick a fight with someone other then the person wearing the opposing jersey? not saying its right to do by any means but what fucken idiot. Can you sue the building owner/Redwings for this if it happens on their property? This happens often, LA Dogers had an something like this happen with gangs attacking a person for wearing a different Jersey after the game last year. I had someone want to start with me in St louis on the road trip in 2010 he side brushed me hard and right after I looked to see who it was he yelled out " what you looking at wanna Fucken go. Never amounted to anything cause my reply to him was yeah the game is over so Im going. after showing him the score board that read 2-1 Hawks. His friend even laughing at him when I said that. your going to have asswhipes in all sports. Im sure we have them in UC too.

Pretty much...I was expecting more than I actually got back with it was the GM place. Most of the fans I ran into were decent and we wished each other's team well for the rest of the year and the hopes of meeting in the playoffs.

Looking at the outcome last year...it seems we met the minority.

Blues fans have notoriously big mouths. They never never never act on it though.

It's happened at the UC just recently. Fans spilled beer all over a opposing team's family's seats. And the aholes who did the damage were drunk young women. There are idiots everywhere, and they only get worse when they drink.

tell me about it, at the Skydome they offer $2 seats in the nosebleeds for weeknight games, and they now won't sell alcohol upstairs, because idiots will pay $2 for tickets, and a shitload on booze and there were too many fights breaking out every game.

When I went to the WCF in Detroit a few years back, I didn't have too much of a problem For every one douchebag, there were 4 or so nice Wings fans. Hawks lost, so I am sure that helped.

My favorite was this group of asshats yelling at the Hawks fans as they were walking in. "Blackhawk Down!" "You're team sucks" and I would hear an occasional "you look tough, I bet I could take you". No one said it to me though. My favorite was some bimbo and her boyfriend, who btw was a sweater tucker, yelled at the same time "Go back to Chicago, asshole!" to which I responded "I have to, cause I have a job." All the Wings fans around them laughed.
