I will say that it's hard to have sympathy for someone you don't know. Brandon Marshall appears in the spot light. He is a star wide receiver. He appears on TV and radio shows. We know know very personal information about him. So, while he might not know us, we know him. I'm sure if his victim were in the same position, it would be harder to forgive him. But we don't know anything about her. Without knowing for a fact, it would seem that our brains tend to recognize people like Brandon Marshall as our friends. So, we are probably more likely to forgive them for their transgressions.
But yes, we should definitely be more mindful of the victims. But like with everything, I don't think we should categorically reject someone based on past transgressions (and I'm not saying you're doing this, I'm just typing). I think we should always be open to forgiveness, if someone proves they are worthy of it. I think Brandon Marshall has proven just that.
