I know it's no big deal... but still pretty funny... listen to the audio of a call to a Montreal sports station.

Still... isn't this considered betting on the sport regardless of how small the bet was? Wonder if he'll get in any trouble for this even though it really isn't a big deal.

Why would it matter? he's betting ON his team, not against it, and he has no say on the outcome (his job is opening the door for line changes)

it is against the rules, but it's a petty bet with a fan. It's not like he went to a shark and bet against the Hawks. Plus, he wasn't even playing in the game!

If the NHL takes action on this it's complete bullshit.

To make it public is even more bullshit. Glad whom ever did it got their name in print.

Wonder if the fan new the converstion rate on the dollar.

Although I do think there will be repercussions, Gary will somehow either suspend him for a couple games next year or there will be a fine. There has to be something in the rule book, 1) being interacting with a fan. Isn't that alone a no no. We shall see. Turco should know better.

The banter is what makes the NHL different. The players are for the most part very cool people. Guess I should have called in the radio station or had someone take a picture of money changing hands. No way, I have class. I also don't bet a measly 5 bucks either....

Once again I hope the fan is happy he got his name in print.

LOL I forgot all about that bet! I'm sure players make bets with fans all the time. Who cares? He's not being Pete Rose or Michael Jordan

According to reports Turco did not give back a wad of $5s. He only gave back the original $5.

Guys seriously take a step back and look at this picture. If it was any other team's player that were fighting for a playoff spot that we can't stand. We would be all over this and we'd be saying suspend him, its gambling, he should know better. Honestly Turco should have known better. I will be shocked if they let this go. What example will the NHL set if they allow this, Soon players they will be allowed to buy food from the venders walking up and down the isles. I am looking at this issue with a hockey fan perspective. It was a dumb thing Turco did. Its one thing for Players to talk to fans while in the game, but when there is exchange between a player and a fan, it doesn't look good and other orginizations will make sure something is done.

No we wouldn't. None of us said shit about Shane O'Brien giving Ron $50 for losing a bet last year. It just made us appreciate O'Brien for being a class act.

And who said that Players can't buy food? I've seen backup goalies on the bench eating a hotdog before! Who cares?

Pete Rose bet for his team too, and that was considered a big deal. Of course that was for a lot of money, but I am just saying...it's kind of "insider trading."

Of course if the NHL is going to get excited about this as "improper behavior", they should look in the mirror! The NHL frequent "helps" teams in the south (Dallas last night for example on the CBJ no goal play) to help them survive!

I am sure the team and/or league will say something to him about it. Personally I think it is a small bet and too funny to be of any real concern.....however it is not something that any athelete wants to be caught doing, especially while on the bench.

Then again, it might not have been a bet on the game, but a bet on how many times Turco could get other players on the bench to open the door.

Speak for myself...do you want to elaborate on that, surely you you must have passed fourth grade and can make more sense then that. As you can see I am not the only one that see's something wrong here. Do I think its funny, hell ya! do I think the NHL has a sense of humor and will let this go no. Do I think he went a little far as far as rules go yes, by the means of....Exhibit 14.2 in the NHL CBA states: "Gambling on any NHL Game is prohibited."

Now how the NHL will see this exchange is up to them to determine. Some are questioning that he was not playing. But will the NHL see it as he was dressed and could have been called upon. He was not scratched. All reasonable questions to consider.

So whiteevo, next time you reply on a post, please have some facts and some understandable grammer.

listen grammer police, making this rediculous leap of logic that everyone would be calling for heads to roll is exactly what i was talking about. "speak for yourself" means exactly that, YOU would be calling for heads to roll, don't assume everyone else would be doing the same. how do you know everyone would get bent out of shape about the "gambling"? how hard is that to understand?

don't worry, i have higher than a fourth grade education, although it seems phrases that are used by fourth graders are perhaps out of your wheelhouse.

go back to posting with your incredibly huge and annoying luongo signature.
