Yeah they should pay him. I'd chip in but I'm kinda light this week.

He really should hold out if the Bears's brass goes stingy on him.

How is his deal so cheap? He was an early second round pick, I mean fucking Jauquin Iglesias is making more than double him.

After seeing his salary a few weeks back, it was obvious this would happen. And only right imo. He may not get 2000 rushing yards, but behind that line, impressed with limited carries he gets over 1000.

No brainer.

If the Bears suddenly pick a RB in the first, we'll know their intentions.

Give it to him. I don't see why not. Just think if he had an OL, he would be much better.

JA pays the good and bad players on this team very good money, so I can see Forte getting a new deal with some very big paydays in it for him.

I don't recall many big good deals JA handed out to bad players besides the foolish paying Harris after he was badly hurt. Vasher was still good when paid and then he got hurt and lost confidence. There's no other players over the past years you say, oh why did JA give them those extensions.

This isn't an issue, Forte wants it and will get it.

The real question is what do they do with Olsen. He also has 1 year left on his contract but does he get an extension? Are trade offers for him listened too still when they can trade him? Those are real questions.

The $1.759 million spent on Mark Anderson this past year was definitely money well spent. I read that Frank Omiyale made $6.3 million in 2009...another great Angelo acquisition.

Yep, 6.3M is his contract on a year.

The point of the topic was talking about resigning players. Putting a RFA tag on a player or signing an outside player is an entirely different topic. They rarely blow long-term deals of their own guys.

BTW. For Omiyale, I think 6.5 in 09 was a good business move. It was likely they weren't going to sign a ton of FA's that year according to JA's words himself. Omiyale signed a 4 year deal, they put most of it with his bonus to his first year so he makes him paid 5 Mil for the next 3 years. That was good value even if he wound up being a backup in those years, which should be the case.

With Anderson, yes they could of put a 5th round tag on him putting him around or just under 1 mil. A team like Houston could of signed him and took him away for a 5th which wasn't likely, but it's a possibility. As a business decision JA had to make to secure the player the coaches said they were planning to start.

Had plenty of good deals keeping minor players on the team year and year like backups and special teams, then for starters he has had the likes of, Charles Tilman, Olin Kruetz, Roberto Garza, Lance Briggs(who they held out against and got a great deal) Desmond Clark, while it's a reach and only a 1 year deal, there was Kyle Orton(no JC trade if he never signed it) They had Mike Browns deal never be an issue despite he being a player on IR so many consecutive years.

None of these contracts ever put them in a difficult situations. Is the Urlacher deal so bad? Not really, has it hampered them in anyway? No, and he proved to be able to come back from several minor and continual injuries.

Early on his mistakes were brutal like the Warrick Holdman issue and that aiding to letting Colvin leave, but they've never made brutal deals based on players performance of their own teams re-signings. The Forte situation will probably work out well for both sides.

I agree we need to lock up Forte now, so he doesn't go to the highest bidder after next year. What do you guys think is a fair deal for him without over paying?

And can they do anything right away or do they have to wait until there's a new CBA in place?

Well without the CBA crap being settled, if I heard right, no ones going to be sure where the Cap will be. Im sure as they work out a deal for Forte, they'll keep the possibilities, or limitations on the budget in mind. They'll get it done one way or another, he's essential to that offense to much.

Forte deserves it. I'll be shocked if he doesn't get a extension.
