Maybe we are the ones that need to be contracted

I got home and was reading the sports section where I see that at 10 AM today, single game tickets went on sale. I can't remember the last time single game tickets were sold for Opening Day or the Cubs. Yet, they are available.

Opening Day is Upper Deck corners right now, so it probably will be a sell out. I did a search on the Friday Monday Cubs game and lower bowl outfield was right there for the taking.

Did you buy any games today?

Seriously the team seems to be in trouble if fans don't come out. I can't see our team getting better for some time. Just no money to do it.

OK, I am ranting some. I'm really sad that the White Sox have come to this. THings can turn around, but its a lot harder for us than most.

Creeping? You mean sprinting.

Contraction is not needed. If they were to get that bad where contraction wouldn't be out of the question attendance-wise though, they should start playing some games in nearby markets like Indianapolis to test the market for a relocation instead.

That said, Chicago is a two-team city and always will be.

You are right about the attendance going down though. (Rounding to 1,000 down, not up)

2011: 24K
2010: 27K
2009: 28K
2008: 30K
2007: 33K
2006: 36K (less than 3K away from Cubs)
2005: 28K (LMAO, so low for WS winner compared to next 4 years)

The Cubs have gone done slightly as well, but much more stably.
2011: 37K
2010: 37K
2009: 39K
2008: 40K
2007: 40K
2006: 39K
2005: 38K

The Yankees have noticeable declined as well actually.

If you contract the Sox, you should contract the Mets too. They have similar problems.

That being said, Chicago and New York are two-team baseball cities. Always will be IMO.

The only way a team can even be considered a candidate for contraction would be if their attendance sinks below 10,000 per game. That's NEVER going to happen in a big market. Case closed.

My Sox brothers struggle with "maybe". It was a heading to an article not a case to contract the Sox :obama:
