You can believe Ben Gordon when he says he wants to stay here and sign a new contract.

During the years he served as the fall guy every time Scott Skiles needed someone to blame, Gordon probably couldn't have imagined signing long term with the Bulls.

But now that Vinny Del Negro essentially allows Gordon free rein to run the floor and shoot as he pleases, you have to think Gordon will stay if the price is right.

Gordon has his faults, to be sure, but he's a pure scorer, and they're not easy to find. There aren't that many players who can come off the bench cold and get you 20 in the fourth, so the Bulls likely will find the money to keep their top scoring threat.

Some stuff on all the other players at the link but this part was most interesting.

I just don't see Ben giving us a discount to sign here. He would take a huge hit salary wise to ensure we didn't go into the lux tax.

I don't think he will give us a discount either. Whether the Bulls will pull some creative financing or not will be the question.

A big part of it may be whether or not Chris Bosh / Amare Stoudemire situations get resolved quickly or not. If they do get resolved quickly, then we've got nothing to save Jerome James for and we can pay someone to take him in trade in which case we may be able to open up plenty of room to sign Gordon.

Doug. If you talk to some of the insiders, could you ask them exactly how much JJ's contract is being shopped, or ho much interest it has generated? Given it's 80% covered, I imagine a lot of the cash-strapped teams are willing to give up considerable pieces/talent for it.

I will see what I can do, but it's unlikely that I'll talk to someone who'd have that kind of information. I might here about it being in play from a source outside the Bulls, but no one from the team that I know would know that.

That's fine. I'm just curious to see the estimated interest in JJ's contract. Some are making it look like gold, and some are saying it's not good enough to get moved. Obviously, I agree moreso with that first statement, but I don't think we can get the world.

Basically, how much does his contract mean to either Phoenix or Toronto, if a Bosh/Stoudemire deal is re-visited?

Got a question for everyone. What would you rather see:

Us trading James to get Milsap

Us trading James to re sign Gordon?

Milsap? Doesn't Utah want to keep him and move Boozer? That's the vibe I get from everything I'm reading. I think they're tired of Boozer's injuries and are more then happy having Milsap take his place.

Did you really just reply to this question in both forums

IMO they would want Boozer more but they feel Boozer could be gone which that's why they will keep Milsap. We can add Lee like I did on RealGM

If we had a chance at Lee or Milsap who would you all take? What starting 5

Noah-Lee/Milsap-Deng-Salmons-Rose

Noah-Tyrus=Deng-Gordon-Rose

I think it's a good question because even though Lee and Milsap aren't the post threat there bot legit PF that bring rebounding which we need and give us a legit front line

Gordon in the clutch shooter that can take over any game and spaces the floor

Also you would probbaly lose Tyrus to get Lee or Milsap but they still fix a major concern upfront.

Can't we have BOTH? ;)

Are you talking David Lee? I'd rather have him than Milsap but both are looking to get paid and probably will. I don't think either put us over the top unless we have Gordon as well. Lee is a little weak on the defensive side even before D'Antoni came and isn't as good a shooter or shotblocker as Thomas. But Noah should be pretty great defensively next year and Lee is a monster on the boards would be a pretty good fit. Milsap adds strength, rebounding, and defense but is undersized and limited offenseively.

hmmm....

I was originally gonna say Gordon, but Milsap is intriguing. If he can develop into that 20/10 guy, maybe you take him instead. The sad part is that both guys would benefit with eachother. IF you can have a deadly 3pt shooting SG (gordon) and a guy to draw the double in the post (Milsap/bosh/amare), your gonna see both guys having big careers.

Id trade deng, tt, firsts for ak47 and milsap instead.

rose
gordon
ak47
milsap
noah

We could but a lot of thing would have to fall into place like JR wanting to pax the LT and if would for Gordon and Lee or Milsap that would be great but I was assuming he wouldn't and we would only be able to make one move to sign one of those players while staying under the cap

Great trade Doug I'd definately trade TT and Deng for AK47 and Milsap, then we can keep Gordon, nice. But I still think we improve just slightly with that team, not a title contender unless Milsap proves to be 20/10 like you said.

Those are my thoughts exactly. I just don't see him taking a lesser contract for the benefit of Bulls' management.

It's nice to see McGraw give BG some props. I remember McGraw saying that Larry Hughes would have been better as a starter a few months back. I guess he doesn't feel that way anymore.

I don't think Milsap belongs in the same category as bosh and amare.
