Possibly the best game ever made, certainly the best in the series. I have put in over 50 hours in the past 6 days and just last night I took down the Metal Gear and the big bad boss man. Ending credits rolled... Then "Chapter Two"... This game has the most content I've seen in a game in a LONG LONG time.

Highly recommended.

Does it get repetitive in the mid-late game? I am really enjoying it as of now about 10 hours in.

The mother base is like a whole different game, within the game.

I am 50 hours into Shower With Your Dad Simulator 2015 and it does get repetitive.... FYI

It can feel that way from time to time but not really... What I really like about the game is everything is on the map, for instance. I found intel during a mission of a patrol route for where the enemy were going and how they were getting there. Instead of doing an outpost hop to try and find them and activate the "trigger" that would spawn them (like in most games) I just went to right outside the location they were heading to and waited. 5 mins later here they come and me and my buddy put em down and extracted em.

I like how you can truly do the missions as you see fit, not much at all is scripted besides the layout for the missions. Otherwise I have found the game to be very rewarding when you create your own plan to conquer the mission. Also you have a lot of fun ahead of you. The only repetitive part I have noticed is the whole knocking guys out, analyzing them and extracting them. But you need to do that to get better gear.

Is there a lot of side shit that feels like distraction or content fluff? Like, are there a bunch of side missions that dilute the game to where you lose track of what is even happening and risk getting bored cause its been so long since you did a main storyline mission?

If you want to there is a ton of side shit, but I would say you never lose focus on where the story is at because everything is kept track of on your handheld device. So you aren't running around looking for missions you know what you can do and when.

there is some content fluff but its okay. i mean how many side missions do you need to do soldier extractions etc etc etc right. BUT i guess it also depends on how you look at some of the side missions.. sure i extracted this solider here but this other one over yonder may have a different skill.

if going by the number labeling system i think there are over 150 side missions available that open throughout the game. that doesn't include the missions you send your squads out on. those missions are different, as you just select them and they go out on their own in the background and complete them.

ive completed 58 side missions to only 17-18 main missions. ive also repeated some side/main missions over for various reasons.. ive replayed several main missions just to get an s rank. i turned off reflex mode to make the game a little harder for myself, so it may cause a replay or five for that s rank. you could just go full out assult mode if you wanted to too - **** the rank

for the most part, i dont think you even have to do side missions, you could basically just stick to the main missions list and complete the game. there are only a couple of "important side missions" that have popped up for me thus far. there are also a couple of side missions that involve extracting interrupters so you can understand what the enemy is saying. i suppose you wouldnt even have to complete those if you didnt want to.

you can play how you want in a sense.

i started out completing 4-5 main missions until i came across a shipping container i wanted that i couldnt Fulton... so i branched off and started to build up mother base and my r&d to upgrade the Fulton system. i probably spent 10-20 hrs.. idk??? just building up mother base, by extracting soldiers, materials etc to upgrade my fulton before coming back to the main story line for a few missions. i could have just continued on the story line if i didnt "want" to get side tracked.

you could probably recruit enough soldiers through the main missions if you wanted to build up mother base. by the time you can send your squad out on missions, there are recruitment missions they can do to bring soldiers to the base too. if i knew what i know now, i probably wouldn't have spent all the time i did looking for soldiers until africa opens up. once that does, you start to see more and more highly rated soldiers everywhere. i dont mind though, because i was playing how i wanted to play and enjoying it, so i dont feel like i wasted time.

ive also built up my bond lvl to 100 with two of my buddies.... i havent even used d-dog yet just content and more content...

my mother base is nearly complete and all my departments are above lvl 30 and ive started to focus on the main missions now... well i wouldnt say nearly complete, since they cost alot of material to build.. so itll still take a long time to build the 4 building 4s for the departments i havent yet. but like i said my main focus is on the main story line now.. for atleast a while.. ive never felt like i didnt know what was going on.. why im even doing what i am, like some open world games have caused.

a part of me just wishes i would have stuck to the main story line so i could have discovered new bases within the progression of the game, rather than just exploring the map and doing side ops.. theres nothing like a new mission that matters at a new location.. at the same time though, im still enjoying myself.... playing how i want to..

its really worth a play...

i find it fun, but way too easy at times. I mean the game does have its flaws imo.

For example, if you dont care about ranking scores during the main missions you basically can play in a god mode with unlimited ammo. Considering you have the ability to call in ammo drops, you basically have all the ammo you need. As far as being invincible (undetectable) there is something called a chicken hat, but im not talking about that. Im talking about the prototype camo you can develop once motherbase departments have reached a certain level.

This camo lasts for a specific amount of time and makes you invisible, and if used right you can clear out an area quick. My research allows me to carry three, but like i said, you can do ammo drops and basically have infinite amounts as long as you have the cash. The only time you are penalized for using this is during a main mission, the highest rank you can get using it is an A. Other items and features will restrict s ranks as well. I havent tried to use the camo on a boss yet.. hmm maybe ill try that later.

Getting cash is fairly easy too. All missions pay something, extracting wildlife pays, the missions you send your squads on pay. you can also sell the materials and items you find/extract from around the world such as jeeps, tanks, etc. Developing new gear and expanding motherbase does cost money and material though.

I like sneaking up and choking out ppl for the most part and i can play this way - it makes it a little more difficult. However, if i just wanted to spam the world with unlimited tranqs, rockets while using unlimited amounts of stealth camo i could.. but id get bored pretty quick.

I dont mind the fulton system or the stealth camo, since they are both real world applications (if you believe the invisible solider and the tank vid). My only issue is how many you can use and how you can use them at times.. sneak up behind a tank and fulton away......

I guess it all depends on the kind of game you want to play and what kind of strategies you want to employ. I can send my squad out on a specific mission and if they are successful, it will limit the amount of helmets my enemies will have for a certain amount of time. Then i can make my sniper buddy just sit up in a perch somewhere and tranq everyone to sleep while i just sit there jerking it in the grass waiting to fulton everyone out.... but ehhhh...

you could just have her kill everyone too.. hell, why have your buddy or you pull the trigger, just call in airstrikes til everyone is dead. if you get really bored just roll up in a tank and decimate everyone. when i need a break i just take out my grenade launcher and see how far i can kill ppl from --- its pretty far....

maybe you dont like snake... go out on a mission as a someone else. you can switch from snake to any of the soldiers you have extracted on the mission loadout screen, im not sure if this feature works on main missions.. something else to test out i suppose.

It sounds like it is very similar to peace walker, and I just played that to gt ready for this game. Only problem is that I need a PS4. Gotta scratch up some cash soon and buy one.
As usual the game looks beautiful, and is getting overwhelming praise.

Tell you what, stealth can get annoying to me, so for me this sounds like good news.

Does anyone play this game with the included '80s soundtrack on? I was watching someone play it, and it seems really out of place to have Cyndi Lauper and "Take On Me" by Aha playing in the background. The game takes place in the '80s, but still...

I think there is chatter that Konami is moving towards full time mobile gaming focus

there are several 80s and game tracks you can collect throughout the world....you dont have to have any music on... if im not on a main mission for the first time.. i wont have either list of music playing in the back ground.

This is strange news. It seems like Konami was really tired of Hideo Kojima. Damn shame, because he made awesome games.

Hideki Hayakawa.. the ceo of konami is just a fucktard that is focused on profits..

his words...

“I was chosen to become president after the board thought my plans to solely pursue mobile games was a strong business model,” states Hayakawa, “I never really understood video games since my life has been dictated by the rules of business and profit. I simply looked at the numbers and realized that mobile games were the only real way to make money in this market. I did not realize that there were so many dedicated fans of the products that Konami made in the past.”

“When I looked over the Silent Hills game, it looked like an unprofitable venture,” wrote Hayakawa, “I knew that if we simply applied the free-to-play model to the game, it would become a very lucrative project. So when I was talking to Kojima-san about it, he seemed very angry that I would even propose such a thing. I told him that even if he says no, Konami will eventually evolve to adapt this model to everything including the Solid games.”

I did not realize that he was such a big name in the video game industry and that the Metal series was like his child,” continued Hayakawa, “I guess that is why he was offended when I said that no one would care if he simply left since he was not important to the longevity of Konami. At the time, I kept saying that he was standing in the way of progress since smartphone games are the future. He just would not look at the numbers I presented him. Now I realize that some of my words and actions might have been wrong.”

At the end of his apology, he states that he is currently trying to learn about video games as much as he can. He even tried his hand at playing a video game for the first time although he complained it would be better if there was an option to buy better guns or more rations.
