Thanks for that CS - I still laugh at the people who say that little pat on the butt he gave Byron Russell was illegal. Russell was so intent on keeping him out of the lane with the clock ticking down that he totally overplayed him to the middle, so Jordan's little butt push looked 10x worse than it was.

I still say the steal on Malone on the other end to set up that play will stick in my memory almost as much as the final shot.

I agree. Youre absolutely right. I like how Jordan merely puts his hand on him and people think there was a full blown shove. Its laughable. He didnt even extend his arm.

And I also agree with you on the sequence of plays. It was an amazing sequence of plays by an amazing player. It was also kind of a microcosm how he denied another great contemporary player (Malone) and then went on to nail the epic last shot. How many great players during that time dont get the recognition they might otherwise because they played at the same time as Jordan? Olajuwon might have been the greatest center in the history of the game but he rarely gets acknowledged for being as great as he was because he played at the same time as Jordan.

BTW, that sequence where Jordan took the ball from Malone and then hit the shot is also a little reminiscent of The Shot. Everyone remembers The Shot but what is often forgotten was the sequence of events that led to it. Jordan had already hit a shot with 6 seconds left to take the lead. If the game had ended there, it would have been a good closing shot. But Ehlo scored on his give and go in bounds that took 3 seconds left. For as much as people remember The Shot, he had hit already hit an amazing shot 6 seconds before. So when he hit The Shot, it wasnt so much, can he do it as much as it was "can he do it again".

Edit-- Here's a good video that shows the sequence I described.
