I heard John Cooper in the locker room after the game saying that in order to go on a long run like the Hawks just went on, you need to be lucky with injuries, and unfortunately, the Lightning were not. Followed up immediately, of course, by the "but we're not using that as an excuse".

Still don't like this guy - think he ha everyone fooled. Incredibly arrogant. Said he never dreamed he'd be the guy giving the consolation speech.

I also love the vague "groin tear", which can vary anywhere from a mild strain to a groin muscle that is completely severed in half.

Ummmm, I believe a groin tear means he tore his groin, and a mild strain is just pulling it. Pretty sure anything torn in your body is going to be much more painful then say a pull.

A mild strain involves torn muscle fibers. It's all relative. Without specifying a grade, we don't know how bad it was.

But it sure *sounds* bad, which is the point of the news media covering it.

http://www.atipt.com/news-media/blog/torn-groin-symptoms-and-treatment

What is a Torn Groin Muscle?

The groin muscles are located where the abdomen meets the leg, and the muscles of the inner thigh are attached to the front of the hip. A torn groin occurs when these muscles are overstretched because of extreme force.

This injury will be given a grade, according to the amount of damage:

Grade 1: Mild over-stretching or slight tearing of muscle fibers. The muscle is painful, but has near normal strength.
Grade 2: Moderate tear of a larger amount of muscle fibers. More tenderness and pain than Grade 1, loss of strength and sometimes bruising.
Grade 3: Tear of muscle is severe, and can be a complete muscle tear. Bruising is present.

They really only got their best shot at coming back vs the Rangers because the Rangers couldn't stay healthy with their 3 top Dmen being pretty hurt

Pulling it is tearing it, but the severity of the tear depends on the grade, which they're being vague about, which might make me think it wasn't as bad as they want us to think.

I am sure their beached whale of a goaltender having a groin injury is the only reason they lost to us.

Most injuries have various grades. Jack Reynolds played an NFL game with a broken leg. Joe Theismann did not.

Idk about anyone else but I've pulled my groin before and playing hockey was the last thing on my mind.

Every team typically reports what the injuries they suffered were after the playoffs. Everyone wanted to know able Bishop so in my opinion it's not a big deal. I don't think Cooper used it as an excuse because it is very true. Hot goaltending and staying as healthy as possible is crucial in the playoffs. He's not lying about the significance of it.

I agree with Milbury on this. They're disclosing their injuries immediately after the game as if, without them, well, of course, different story to the Cup ending. Obviously.

Not a big fan of Milbury. There's times in life you just need to shut your mouth.

I don't think anyone likes Milbury, but I get his point on this one.

They say well the interviews asked him about it... well they asked him about it all series and he lawyered it up and gave completely bullshit responses or dodged the questions, he could of done exactly the same or simply said, I'm not going to get into that tonight. He choose instead to go with the motive of, well the season is over and it's good enough time now to start being clear about this.

They had a capable young Russian back-up goalie, their decision to play Bishop or not.

Tyler Johnson had a broken wrist? Kane's collar bone was wet. Seabrooke has to breathe through his goddamn eyes. Everyone has their issues. Hammer probably has 15 fractures dispersed throughout his body. Oduya was hurt. Bickell couldn't even play since the Nashville series I guarantee something ailed him and it got so bad they pulled him out.

Q's response? "There was never a concussion, I don't want to talk about it."

Hedman, Stamkos, Kilhorn, and the Triplets make that team pretty damn formidable. They should have no shame.

I really loved their style, the back end build up reminded me of the italian flatback 4 from Soccer. They build up speed better than any team I have ever seen, and they won't attack until they draw your forwards out to chase out the flatback 4. Its annoying to play against in Soccer too but there is an art to chasing it out with less compromise.

Sorry for the threadjack, but you reminded me of this epic moment in Oergon's history, and I had to threadjack for it.
