The last day of organized team activities couldn't have come sooner for Chris Harris.

The veteran safety watched from the sideline Wednesday nursing a slight ankle sprain, an injury he said is not serious.

``I'm fine,'' Harris said. ``It's nothing. Just a day off.''

Harris was a vocal leader throughout the offseason while switching from his comfort zone at strong safety to free safety. The Bears count on him to bring some stability to the defensive backfield.

Harris wasn't the only veteran out of action Wednesday. Brian Urlacher was in Los Angeles filming a commercial while fellow linebacker Lance Briggs was nowhere in sight. Guard Roberto Garza and kicker Robbie Gould also were absent.

``Personal reasons for all of them,'' Lovie Smith said. ``I know where they all were.''

Tight end Brandon Manumaleuna, who continues to recover from knee surgery, was not on the practice field, either. And Kellen Davis, who is battling for a tight end spot following Manumaleuna's arrival, was held out of practice with an undisclosed injury.

``All of the guys will be ready to go when we start up training camp,'' Smith said.
