Lol. The least surprising news of the year.

EA has their MLB Facebook game, so one would imagine they start making an MLB console game again.

People on here get incredibly nostalgic about the MVP series, but the folks that worked on that game aren't a team anymore. People move from studio to studio frequently these days. A lot of people think EA can just fire up the engines and make a good baseball game immediately. Look what EA did to NBA Live/Elite/Live, who knows how that will turn out. And people always complain about Madden. It will take a few years to make it good IF they jump back into it.

I don't know who else would make one unless Activision starts up a sports studio.

Realistic possibility they won't have a baseball game to play. I suppose the 2K12 team could give them a late roster update as a farewell gift. The 2K12 fanbase I'm sure will continue roster updates as long as the servers are up.

EA or whoever steps up to the plate to make a game has to build an engine from the ground up. I'm sure EA doesn't have a capable engine right now because that'd be a waste of resources for a game they weren't allowed to make.

Wouldnt it be smart to start now? They have close to 10 months to get a game done.

That'd be really quick to build an engine and do all that coding, art, sound, etc to be able to release the game next year. Costs a lot of money too, and I'm not sure if anyone would want to spend that just to rush a game out. I'm sure there will be another baseball game from someone next year, but I just don't know how it'll get done smoothly without them rushing it. Maybe I'm overestimating the time and resources it makes to make a sports game.

The Kotaku article said EA wouldn't do anything until next gen, and that looks like 2014 at the earliest for Xbox/PS4.

What truly baffles me is how 2K could look back at their MLB product the past few years and think that it's worth $60. That is truly unbelievable. Either they think consumers are morons or they shouldn't be making baseball games. From the looks of how this ended, it seems that the latter is true in this case, although anyone who bought 2K for the past 3-4 years is playing into my first statement.
