Just got a notification from ESPN that Anschutz Entertainment Group is up for sale. Of course, ESPN only listed them as owning the Los Angeles Kings and the Staples Center, but we know better than that.

Here's what is at stake here:
Stadia:
Home Depot Center: home of Adidas Running Club, Chivas USA, Galaxy (100%)
Rentschler Field: home of Connecticut Huskies (manages)
Rose Garden: home of Portland Trail Blazers, Portland Winterhawks (manages)
Staples Center: home of Clippers, Lakers, Kings, Sparks (100%)
XL Center: home of Connecticut Whale (manages)
and other foreign stadia

Teams:
Eisbären Berlin (50%)
Hamburg Freezers (50%)
Hammarby IF Football (49%)
Hartford Colonials (interest)
Houston Dynamo (50%)
Los Angeles Galaxy (100%)
Los Angeles Kings (50%)
Los Angeles Lakers (interest)
Los Angeles Sparks (interest)
Manchester Monarchs (50%)
Ontario Reign (50%)
Reading Royals (interest)

So this could have some effect on MLS and the future of the league's flagship franchise

If they still owned half of the teams in the league, this could have spelled a disaster, but I think that there won't be too much of an effect here. Whoever is buying it has the brand recognition and marketing of the Galaxy so they'll be fine, and only half of Houston is owned, so they could recover from being abandoned in this deal.

Rockets owner is buying the Dynamo, so that's not going to be a problem....
