They play for peanuts....wow

Well I mean it's still pretty good money, but not like major league money.

Also like to point out that 1-3 each have more than double any other team between 4-19, and they combine for about as much as the bottom 9 teams combined.

Portland and SKC being that low and us being that high surprised me though.

The nighest paid non-designated player in De Rosario at 600K, which is actually more than ANY of our DP's.

Soooo... why are they DP's then? Does a team HAVE to have DP's?

Don't have to have any, but you can have as many as 4 if the 4th meets certain requirements, don't think that rule has ever been used.

Was either because of the kind of transfer or because of having to fit multiple under the cap or to hype up the moves and make them seem bigger since info on MLS contracts takes time to be made public.

3 DP's is the max, but....

Each club has two Designated Player slots and clubs are allowed to “purchase” a third Designated Player slot for a one-time fee of $150,000 that will be dispersed in the form of allocation money to all clubs that do not have three Designated Players. Clubs will not have to buy the third DP roster slot to accommodate Designated Players 23 years old and younger.

Designated Player slots are not tradable.

Oh, that's how that rule went... my bad.

I think it will be expanded to 4 or 5 by the end of the decade though.

Omar Gonzalez now a Designated Player, guess LA likely #1 now, but we won't see updated figures for about a year.

Maybe when all the other clubs actually use there DP slots lol.

Though of course there are still teams that will never pay for a real one. We never seem to go for huge names anymore and are still #6 in league payroll.

Yes... I would love to see the Fire get a BIG name (apologies to Magee). What's the deal with Alvaro Fernandez? He's now the highest paid player on the Fire.

We loaned him out to a Middle Eastern team (Al Rayyan SC) in Qatar, and then to Nacional in Uruguay.

I wonder how the Omar Gonzalez resigning has changed this. Not much I'm sure. Good for the MLS to keep him though.

Also good because now designated players can't pull the whole "LA or New York" BS, until NYCFC comes on of course.

Only think is Reballs only have two DP's on their roster. If a BIG name player said it's LA or I'm not coming, then MLS would make-up another rule for them to get that so called player.

Probably, I'd expect more DP slots to be created by the end of the decade anyway.
