Pena can be dealt for sure. Ramirez probably decides his own fate this season though.

I don't understand the lack of interest in Pena to be honest. It isn't like teams are locked into him long term. There are a couple of competitive teams that really, really need a power bat at 1B, and the financials of the deal are creative enough to allow a lot of options for making the deal work for both teams. I just don't get why a guy with 20 HRs, a good OBP and a good glove on a 1 year team friendly deal isn't a hot commodity right now.

There might be but the Cubs might not be willing to trade him. It's not like the Cubs have a ton of options to replace Pena with at first. Do we really want to see Jeff Baker locked in as the starting first baseman for the last two months of the season? I suppose it doesn't matter at this point but I'd still like for the team to be somewhat competitive going down the stretch.

I think a Colvin/Baker platoon at 1B wouldn't be terrible to finish the year. Colvin is having a rough July, and certainly hasn't earned a promotion. But if the Cubs have an opportunity to get a few prospects that could help for Pena, I would think you have to explore it. You get the added benefit of getting an opportunity to see if Colvin improves with regular playing time in the big leagues, and gives you a better idea of what Colvin is. My guess is that more than likely it is fourth OF/power bat off the bench, but I am not going to write him off at age 25 either.

I agree with all of that. Colvin needs to get at-bats against major league pitching and those at-bats need to be consistent.

I'm not a big fan of Prince for 2 reasons:
1. Scott Boras is his agent
2. The huge contract he'll get will look Soriano horrible when his body starts to break down, his power decreases, and his already below average defense will get worse.

For a good comparison IMO his contract will look as bad as Ryan Howard's will when he isn't the big RBI guy and power threat he is now.

We need to completely overhaul the team before worrying about one player.

Agreed, if we were one power hitter away, go for it.

But since we have holes pretty much everywhere except SS, CF (assuming Byrd stays), RF (assuming Kosuke stays), and 2B (I think Barney is fine for now).

I'd still like to see Prince in a Cubs' uniform, though.

i dont like keeping both imo....ramirez and pena both have great trade value and will relieve us of some cap room(i also hope we trade on of our OFs to make room brett when he comes in later)..otherwise we wont even have a shot at fielder or pujols

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Arizona Wildcats

keep em both...use the money u would waste on prince for other positions (Pitching and 2B for example)

I really, really, really doubt the Cubs will re-sign Aramis.

3B and LF are holes, but 2B isn't. Makes sense.

How would you spend money on pitching exactly?
