Since the Bears are always fond of adding more Matts to the staff, I'm wondering how the board would feel if Matt Patricia is the next DC?

He is available for the job and he was the one that brought Ben Johnson to the Lions in the first place. Maybe BJ wants to repay the guy for giving him that opportunity

I have been skeptical of Ben Johnson as a HC, but if he can score Dennis Allen as DC...I can change that to cautiously hopeful immediately.

That has been EXACTLY my viewpoint. I went from kind of worried to a bit enthusiastic when I heard that. I am waiting for this to be finalized and getting impatient.

Why? As long as he's designing and calling the offense does it matter? I mean yes, it does but does it lol ?

When the Bears bring in someone with a great reputation on offense, I fully assume it will not work in Chicago. When the Bears bring in someone with a great reputation on defense, I assume it will only be better for him in Chicago.

Johnson is the best attempt yet at turning that tide.

I know Miami interviewed him for a HC gig. Maybe he wants to be eliminated from any HC opportunity before announcing his acceptance of the Bear DC gig. Not sure how many may still be considering him, if any.

Robert Salah, Dennis Allen or Riverboat Ron. Other than that, no thanks.

Seems pretty simple, just call up Eddie George and find out who his DC is at Tennessee State

If you're skeptical of Johnson; you should be skeptical of any and every HC hire.....because who actually knows what they'll do in that role with this org.

That said.....this was; by far; the correct hire (and should he been done a year ago) to pair with Caleb.

The exciting part/benefit is he seems to have situational awareness and is hiring actual NFL coaches (and former hc) to his staff.....unlike the previous regime of bozos.

They could have gone safer, but still in an offensive direction with McCarthy or Kingsbury.....but swung for the fences.

A+ to the bears......now, let's hope it works out.
