I am just watching "The Burbs" on Netflix and thinking how great this movie really is to me. I miss the wacky suburbia movies. Great cast and its nice to see Tom Hanks in his more comical days.

First movie that came to mind was Neighbors, with Belushi and Aykroyd.

Knowing what people have forgotten is a damn fine skill.

I never forgot about the Burbs, heck, I don't think most people have. Not dogging on you for missing it, that happens to all of us. Actually, what could be a good indicator for movies that go forgotten is when you can search your cable guide menu, and it's not there for a few months on any of the movie channels(with exception to movies with seasonal themes). Also factoring in that the movies were once regularly broadcasted on cable. A nice little spot in pop-culture realms before hitting obscurity.

Never heard of it

It's an older flick (1981), but the roles Belushi and Aykroyd are the opposite of what you've normally seen out of them. Worth checking it out, kind of a strange movie.

What about "Flight of the Navigator?" That was one movie a lot of people forgot from my childhood.

Some of the movies I really liked as a kid that I have not watched in years are

16 candles- hilarious.
Johnny b good- Anthony michael hall and robert downey junior, pretty funny.
Red dawn- bad ass
Excaliber- wicked King Arthur movie, the best that I had seen

... and one ridiculous campy horror movie I would like to see again, New Years Evil.
There was a scene that sent me in to gales of laughter as a kid... there was an asylum, and someone had a wind up santa clause on a tricycle or whatever that was going around a table. one of the inmates was peering over the edge of the table watching it go around and around.... and then swatted it to death with a shoe. Dont know why I still remember that, but I do.
to this day, every time I see a wind up toy, I want to swat it.

From The 'Burbs:

Art "Do you know what this is?"
Ray "It's a bone."
Art "It's a Femur!"
Ray "It's a Femur bone."

Carrie Fisher encourages Tom Hanks to eat sardines and pretzels to be polite, while Brother Theodore stares at Hanks. One of the funniest food scenes in history.

And if anybody is interested, this is a very serious analysis of a very funny scene.

After Hours. maybe one of the more overlooked Scorsese gems due to him having so many great films.

Yeah, aside from Omelet's choices, everyone seems to be about 40.

In keeping with the 80s theme, The Brother from Another Planet was a decent film, IIRC.
