My favorite teams
I used to love the arguments with the guy on the old boards about his theories about Top 10 defenses vs Top 10 Offenses etc... He was like PFF with his own little statistics on top of all the other general arguments he would cause to keep people in like 50 page threads.
I have no idea how accomplish that feat but I do have my own stat theory I think of 25/16 = BEARS SUPERBOWL!!!
My Beloved Bears have only scored 400+ points in a season 3 times: 1965, 1985, and 2006.
In other words the two times we made it to the Superbowl the team averaged at least 25 PPG.
Thus I say any team that can score 25ppg truly has a superbowl caliber offense and is a strong contender to win it all.
On the other hand the Bears have give up less than 256 points in a season several times including: 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1993, 2001, 2005, and again 2006.
Thus we can say that any season that the Bears have allowed less than 16 PPG, they were a Superbowl caliber defense that could have won it all.
Last years defense was very close at 277 points allowed which is certainly playoff caliber, but the offense only scored about 20 PPG which is below average. This team is close and with some luck we can be Superbowl bound this year!
25 and 16 is the key....
