I used to love the arguments with the guy on the old boards about his theories about Top 10 defenses vs Top 10 Offenses etc... He was like PFF with his own little statistics on top of all the other general arguments he would cause to keep people in like 50 page threads.
I have no idea how accomplish that feat but I do have my own stat theory I think of 25/16 = BEARS SUPERBOWL!!!

My Beloved Bears have only scored 400+ points in a season 3 times: 1965, 1985, and 2006.
In other words the two times we made it to the Superbowl the team averaged at least 25 PPG.
Thus I say any team that can score 25ppg truly has a superbowl caliber offense and is a strong contender to win it all.

On the other hand the Bears have give up less than 256 points in a season several times including: 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1993, 2001, 2005, and again 2006.
Thus we can say that any season that the Bears have allowed less than 16 PPG, they were a Superbowl caliber defense that could have won it all.

Last years defense was very close at 277 points allowed which is certainly playoff caliber, but the offense only scored about 20 PPG which is below average. This team is close and with some luck we can be Superbowl bound this year!

25 and 16 is the key.... :bearbang:

Error #1. That scoring number includes ST and defensive scoring.

So you are saying that the Bears need to score more and give up less points to win a championship? Brilliant!

:beartroll:

Seriously though, I would be interested to see the O and D ranks of the last 10 super bowl teams.

Well if you have a good offense & defense you're probably a Superbowl contender.

But i must say, that guy was an idiot and this impersonation is spot on.

I was thinking it was odd 95 didn't get that total, until you acknowledged that point. Seems so obvious now.

Are you talking about 63BearsFan? The guy who used to write novels about why Rex wasn't good enough and everyday he wound up creating a 50 page flamewar thread? Im talking old CBMB prior to the one that closed and got us all to move to CCS

That's the one. Lol. Someone used to have a bunch of his rants saved. E.g. Craig "The Executive" Krenzel. I can't remember who it was though.

Does anybody remember his Walsh minimums?

60% completion percentage and 80 minimum QB rating should be enough to get us to the big dance, etc.

Lol ah shit that brings back memories.... not sure if they are good or not.

I used to read his stuff and get pissed, but I was a lurker back then and rarely posted.... **** it was hard not to read his stuff even if you disagreed with him.

Kinda surprised someone that persistent dropped off the forums just cause his username got stolen.... it wasn't even a unique username, coulda just went with 64BearsFan lol

Good call. I'll suggest 66PackFan over at the Packers Forums changes to 68PackFan since 66 isn't really unique.

We need to better honor the sub .500 teams that follow up championship years.

You have a point but the total remains the same: 25 PPG scored by the team and under 16PPG for the other team.
2012 was 22.8 scored by the TEAM and 17.3 by the other TEAM. Not superbowl worthy but definitely playoff caliber based on defense.
