Coaching Changes

Bears hire David Shaw as Head Coach

Bears need an offensive minded head coach with experience calling plays and developing QB's and David Shaw should be the guy. The winningest coach in Stanford school history compiled a 96-54 record.

Bears hire Mike Zimmer as Defensive Coordinator

He's an old school, tough DC who will hold players accountable. Bears fans are well familiar with him and his time with the Vikings. He owns his home in Northern Kentucky and spends his off seasons there so his home isn't that long of a commute to Chicago.

Free Agency

Starting cap space: $82.0 million

Bears sign LT Ronnie Stanley to 3 years 75 million

The 2025 draft class is weak at the tackle postion and Bears can't afford to skip out on a guy like Stanley if he hits free agency.

Stanley, 30, was a Pro Bowler and All-Pro in 2019, and had he not missed at least four games in every season since then, he would have likely added to that resume. He also blocks in front of Lamar Jackson, so no one is better suited to anticipate how to handle Williams' signature improvisation.

Bears sign C Drew Dalman to 3 years 37 million

Bears need to fix the issues on the offensive line this year or Poles may be out of a job. Dalman looks to be the best option in free agency for a vet center. “Dalman has topped a PFF grade above 78.0 in three of his four seasons in the NFL,” Infante wrote, a reference to Dalman’s elite grades both as a run-blocker and overall in 2024. “At 26 years old, he has solidified himself as one of the top centers in the league.”

Bears sign G Kevin Zeitler to 1 year 6.5 million

The 34-year-old could be a cheap yet effective guard option on the open market. Zeitler's 80.2 PFF overall grade is his best since 2016, and his 78.6 PFF run-blocking grade is his highest in 10 years.

1 [10] DE Mykel Williams [Georgia] 6'5 265lbs

Scouting Report: Summary

Mykel Williams is a blue-chip EDGE prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft. He brings prototypical size, length, and athleticism that NFL teams covet. His tape shows a high motor and the ability to set the edge effectively in the run game. Williams' versatility to play multiple spots along the defensive front makes him scheme versatile, whether in a 4-3 or 3-4 alignment.

Williams needs to clean up some technical aspects of his game. His hand placement and pad level need refinement to maximize his power and leverage against NFL offensive linemen. At times, his get-off can be inconsistent, which limits his pass-rush impact.

Overall, Williams has the tools to be a high-impact player in the NFL. His combination of size, athleticism, and raw power provides a strong foundation. With time and development, he has the potential to be a perennial Pro Bowler and a cornerstone for an NFL defense.

2 [39] G Tyler Booker [Alabama] 6'5 325lbs

Scouting Report: Summary

Booker's blend of size, power, and athleticism makes him an intriguing prospect for NFL teams. His experience in Alabama's pro-style offense should ease his transition to the next level, where he projects as a potential day-one starter at guard. Booker's skill set is particularly well-suited for power-running schemes, where his ability to generate movement at the line of scrimmage can be fully utilized.

While he may need some refinement in his technique, particularly in pass protection against elite NFL interior rushers, Booker's upside is undeniable. His combination of physical tools and football intelligence suggests he could develop into a cornerstone offensive lineman. Teams looking for a reliable, durable guard with the potential to dominate in the run game will find Booker an attractive option in the draft.

As he continues to develop, Booker has the potential to become a Pro Bowl-caliber guard in the NFL. His experience against top-tier SEC competition and his rapid improvement trajectory bode well for his ability to adapt and excel at the pro level.

USATSI_21489776-1024x734.jpg

2 [41] TE Tyler Warren [Penn State] 6'6 257lbs

Scouting Report: Summary

Warren projects as a "Y" tight end with "F" versatility at the next level, offering true mismatch potential in the passing game. His ability to flex out wide, work from the slot, or operate in-line gives him three-down value in multiple offensive schemes. Warren's catch radius and body control make him a viable security blanket and red zone threat from day one.

At the point of attack, Warren shows a solid anchor but needs to improve his hand placement and leverage to consistently win against NFL edge-setters. His willingness as a blocker suggests untapped potential in this area. Warren's route tree is advanced for the position, showcasing crisp breaks and the ability to stem defenders at the top of his routes. He demonstrates good spatial awareness against zone coverage and the play strength to box out smaller defenders in tight windows.

With plus athleticism and natural pass-catching ability, Warren has the tools to become a chain-mover and seam-stretcher at the next level. His draft stock could see a significant boost with a strong showing at the Combine and continued development as an in-line blocker. While he may not be a plug-and-play TE1, Warren's ceiling as a matchup nightmare makes him an intriguing developmental prospect with starter upside. Look for him to come off the board on Day 2, where he could become a key cog in a multiple-tight end offense that emphasizes creating mismatches in the passing game.

tyler-warren-penn-state-football-5-on3-scaled.jpg

3 [72] OT Grey Zabel [North Dakota] 6'6 305lbs

Scouting Report: Summary

Shows the critical traits of an NFL tackle prospect with refined technical skills and plus movement ability for the position. Natural knee-bender who consistently plays with proper pad level and leverage despite his height, particularly effective working double teams and down blocks.

Best scheme fit comes in a zone-blocking system where his mobility and technical proficiency can shine in space. While initial punch timing impresses, continued development of play strength and anchor will be crucial for handling NFL edge defenders one-on-one in passing situations.

Core strength development and improved recovery mechanics will determine ceiling as an NFL tackle, but advanced technical foundation and proven durability suggest immediate swing tackle value with starting right tackle upside in a movement-based system.

1437584282.jpg

5 [] S Rod Moore [Michigan] 6'0 198lbs

Scouting Report: Summary

Moore projects as a versatile safety with the potential to contribute in multiple defensive schemes at the next level. His combination of football intelligence, coverage skills, and special teams prowess should make him an attractive option for teams looking to bolster their secondary.

In the NFL, Moore's best fit may be in a system that utilizes multiple safety looks, allowing him to showcase his range in deep coverage while also capitalizing on his ability to play near the line of scrimmage. His experience in a top-tier college program and proven performance against elite competition suggest he could compete for significant playing time early in his career.

While he may need to add some bulk to withstand the rigors of the NFL, Moore's instincts, versatility, and upside make him a intriguing prospect who could outperform his draft position. Teams valuing smart, adaptable defensive backs who can contribute on special teams will likely have Moore high on their draft boards.

1453534582.0.jpg

6 [] WR Nick Nash [San Jose] 6'3 200lbs

Scouting Report: Summary

What makes Nash such an intriguing prospect is the tantalizing combination of his rapid development curve and NFL-ready frame. Despite being a mature prospect, his trajectory suggests untapped potential, with the tools to become both a matchup problem and reliable target at the next level. His 6'3" frame and natural receiving instincts provide immediate value, particularly as a big-bodied target who can stress defenses vertically.

The transition from quarterback to receiver is far from complete, but Nash's quick absorption of receiving fundamentals hints at his football intelligence and adaptability. While his route-running needs refinement, he compensates with deep speed, sure hands, and advanced mental processing - traits that translate well to the NFL game. His size allows creative offensive coordinators to create mismatches from multiple alignments, though maximizing his potential will require patience and deliberate development.

Smart teams will see past the obvious questions about Nash's age and relatively recent position switch to recognize a prospect with both a stable floor and considerable upside. His natural receiving skills, football IQ, and proven ability to create explosive plays suggest a contributor who can impact games immediately in specific packages while developing into a potential starter.

Tm42OTRkclR3cUpNU3VLR0xmZjQ4VFNqZFdjU1dhNndwLmpwZw.jpg

7 [] LB Nick Martin [OSU] 6'0 200lbs

Scouting Report: Summary

A heat-seeking missile at the second level, Martin possesses the tools to be a three-down impact player in today's NFL. His elite short-area quickness and instincts allow him to excel in space, making him a prime fit for defenses that prioritize speed and versatility. While his frame raises questions about his ability to consistently take on blocks, Martin's play strength and tackling prowess suggest he can overcome size limitations.

Scheme versatility is a calling card for Martin. He has the skill set to thrive as a WILL in a 4-3 or as an inside backer in a 3-4, with upside as a sub-package rusher. His coverage chops and range make him an ideal matchup weapon against spread offenses and mobile QBs. Martin's ability to contribute on special teams from day one will endear him to coaching staffs as he develops into a full-time defensive role.

Despite limited starting experience, Martin's production against top competition hints at a high ceiling. His instincts, athleticism, and playmaking ability should translate well to the next level. Teams looking for an impact defender capable of staying on the field for all three downs will find Martin an intriguing day two prospect with the potential to outplay his draft position.

usatsi_21602308-1600x900.jpg

7 [] DE Tyreak Sapp [Florida] 6'3 273lbs

Scouting Report: Summary

The stout defender demonstrates NFL-caliber ability to set the edge and disrupt blocking schemes in the run game. Natural power at the point of attack combined with refined hand usage suggests immediate value as a base end in an even front.

While lacking elite bend and burst traits coveted in premium edge rushers, the technical foundation and physical tools translate well to a complementary role in a rotation. The snap anticipation and block recognition skills compensate for athletic limitations.

The anchor strength and ability to reduce inside on passing downs adds scheme versatility, though rush plan diversity needs expansion. Special teams experience and high-motor play style project well to immediate depth contribution while developing as a rotational defender.

Did this mother fvcker say David Shaw is his dream?

Yes sir! He's an experienced head coach and a culture changer I've been a fan for years. I understand he gets some slack for his last years at Stanford but that was more an issue of lack of talent.

Yeah, it lost my attention right after he lists David Shaw but then follows it up with Zimmer, the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys. Coordinators can't take lateral moves

This is too good of a RB class to not take a dip in those waters. Otherwise, not a bad draft.

Didn’t David Shaw resign in disgrace after back to back 3 win seasons to avoid being officially fired?

10 years ago I would have said hell yes.

But now? No thanks…when he told people he was resigning because he lost his edge and his identity for leading football teams, then disappeared and now has an obscure consulting position in the broncos FO. What has he changed at 52 years old?
