Just ordered myself a new computer as well. It's a desktop though.

HP Pavilion
AMD A10 quad core 3.4 GHz APU
1 TB hard drive
10 gigs RAM

And I caught it on sale for like $100 less than usual.

Only has 2GB RAM on old computer, the excess RAM here has allowed me to install Windows 8 Release Preview in VirtualBox as a test-ground until I upgrade to the full version in October.

Have fun with it. Windows 8 sucks big time, it's the new Vista/ME.

I really like it to be honest. Sports app is nice, wish it had more than just Big 4 though (e.g. NCAA, MLS, AHL, CFL, etc.)

Haha, if I'm not mistaken it should be easy and fairly inexpensive to upgrade to 16 if I wanted to...but it seems a bit unnecessary.

Although the ten gigs mine has is kind of an odd number. I think it has 4 slots and comes with 2x4 and 2x1 RAM sticks.

Well if you use your computer for apps, then by all means. I get shit done on my computer, and a web browser replaces nearly every cell-like app or desktop-like widget without OS integration issues with seamless cross-platform compatibility.

Definitely inexpensive. I guess it just really depends on what you want to do with the computer. I upgraded mine to 16 because of the number of things I run on it constantly, though I treat mine as a sort of server for media and other things.

Yeah...I won't be doing anything particularly special with it. I basically needed something that could handle editing/rendering video from my new camcorder. My most powerful computer was a 5ish year old gateway laptop with like 1.something GHz and 2gb (recently upgraded from 1) of RAM.

Got the computer today and opened it up just to check everything out inside. I was wrong about the RAM. It has 4 slots, with two of them having Kingston brand 4gb ram sticks. Then it has another single 2gb stick of some other brand and one empty slot. Seems kind of weird. Any computer guys on here have any input on that?
