i had issues with Nagy from year one when he ran the same fricking plays from different sets instead of the other way around. Why would you make it harder on a young O and easier for the D instead of the other way around. We had an outside zone runner and he ran inside traps etc. until the end of that year. Fired his OC after 2 years as a face saving move. He didn't show the ability to scheme for his players and may be more versatile now but meh for me.

Yet I don't remember a great unbeatable Justin Fields that Nagy scouted and the team drafted under his direction the final year of Nagy? Nor any of the other QB's under his failed tutelage...Nick Foles/Andy Dalton

As I recall Fields left and went to another playoff team that benched him for lack of production...I recall the coach commenting when he sent him to the pine "Good not to be confused with Great".

What, is that proof in your mind?

Okay, so they bring in Mahomes for a 5 hour introduction into the Chiefs org, what they are about and you think Nagy is going to tell Mahomes he doesn't like him?

You think he is going to try to give Mahomes the impression that he doesn't like him? Or do you think he's going to give him the impression he likes him?


Listen, I have no idea if Nagy thought Mahomes was a better draft pick than the other QBs, maybe he did, maybe he didn't but it wasn't Nagy who fell in love with Mahomes, that was Veach. And Reid obviously agreed, something he didn't have to do.

Nagy? I kind of think he had to agree. Who knows if he really did. He could have for all I know or maybe he thought the other QBs were going to be better than Mahomes. But whatever the case, he's certainly going to be all rah rah with Mahomes when he comes into those doors, cause that's what he does and that's what he's supposed to do.

Yet in a quarterback driven league 9 teams passed on him and multiple teams failed or didn't try to move up for him. The prevailing wisdom at the time was that he had poor mechanics and was from an air raid offense. Which at that time was at least somewhat frowned upon.

While "found" may not be the precise term to use, it was Veach who is credited with being the one who was pounding the table for him. Not just in the lead up to the 2017 draft, but back when Mahommes was still a freshmen at Texas Tech. To see it that early is pretty impressive. It's not the same as how everyone saw it when Trevor Lawrence was a freshman at Clemson.

“I think Patrick had just finished his freshman year at Texas Tech, and I can remember Veach coming in … He was in love with Patrick after his freshman year,” Smith said on The Adam Schefter Podcast. “He came in the QB room, he’s like, ‘You guys gotta see this guy.’ Because we would always talk ball, talk college football and different stuff. And he had his eyes on (Mahomes) for a long time.”
