So little time for TV, but I keep hearing good things about Alone. Need to add it to my list.
I love survivalist type things and have done a few adventures of my own and mainly was turned onto it from doing SERE. But never naked or on TV. Plus, if you notice, every other challenge(episode) has someone who 'teaches' survival training or owns their own school. That's part of the recipe, showing people who want to add this to their resume and promote their services. I've yet to decide whether I like it better when a ringer is on the show or when it's total n00bs that are in over their head.
These people go to some of the best locations for challenges, which is why the shows have a ton of potential. Naked and Afraid has some great episodes, many more dull ones too unfortunately. So it's basically a cringe-fest (for those who need to use the term cringe multiple times a day), and good for those who like cringey* shows. Too many of the same trends, like 4/5 episodes the personal item is a machete and fire starter. But recently, the "when worlds collide" crossover was very cool. I hope they throw in more twists like that to save the series. I also hope they do some guy+guy and girl+girl challenges. Other than hopes for changes, I'm pretty much bored with the show and don't really want to see them abusing the rain forest so often for good TV. Although them being there may be better than poachers and loggers, and act as a good deterrent? IDK if what they do actually helps or hurts TBF.
