Greetings everyone. If anything I write has already been discussed please forgive me. I'm living the life...seeing this world and am trying to catch up on all the discussions.
First off I want to apologize to Mike (newschoolbulls). I over-reacted to you on that last post a couple weeks ago and in retrospect there was no reason for me to act like that so I'm sorry about that bro. You had a right to say some of that because I rubbed my twist of fortune in everyone's face and so I understand how someone would respond that way.
Onto the post...and i go into this with some degree of hesitation seeing it is race-related.
From what I saw Peyton Manning didn't shake a single hand after losing the game. He appeared to blow past everyone on his way out.
When LeBron James did the exact same thing in last year's Eastern Conference Finals he was immediately and justifiably ripped on every media outlet from Chicago to Timbuktu. When Isiah Thomas and the Pistons lost to us and they weren't shaking hands they haven't stopped being ripped since.
Yet when Peyton Manning did the exact same thing (in fairness only to LeBron and not to Isiah which was different), I have yet to hear a single word about it from anyone.
Is football all that much different or is this yet another case of racial double standard?
Why is the black star always ripped immediately yet the great white hope is excused, justified and gets a pass for the same behavior?
Why is ESPN quiet about the Ben Roethlisberger rape accusation "until the facts come out" but broadcast Michael Irvin's accusation the very second it hits the news?
Why do people boycot the NBA when the Indiana Pacers fight fans but cheer when half a hockey team enters the stands and one hits a fan in the face with a stick?
Why do I hear so many people say they don't care for the NBA because "they're just a bunch of thugs and repribates" yet are avid fans of the NHL and NFL which has just as much thuggish and criminal behavior, if not more than the NBA?
Is it because most of the NBA is made up of young, black men covered with tattoos?
If the NBA were made up of primarily white, cleanly-groomed guys do you think the NBA would be just as accepted or more accepted than it is now?
I just see so many unfair racial standards and think it's unfortunate.
Your thoughts.
