EA Sports announced today that the demo for NBA Elite 11 is now available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network.

The demo will allow you to create your own character and start playing in the "Jordan Draft Showcase." This is all part of NBA Elite 11's new Become Legendary mode. The best part is all the XP you earn in the demo will carry over to your character in the full version of NBA Elite 11. Inviting friends to download the demo will also earn you XP -- similar to what EA did with the Tiger Woods 11 demo.

The demo also features a tutorial mode that will allow you to practice Elite's new shooting mechanics (Hands-On Control). You can check out some screenshots of how the new shooting will work from a post I made back in June.

"Like putting in time at the gym, there's a learning curve with Hands-On Control," David Littman, Creative Director of NBA Elite 11 said. "But once you feel the difference between Hands-On Control and the traditional button configuration, you'll understand why we chose the direction we did."

You'll also be able to play the 4th quarter of Game 7 between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics in the 2010 NBA Finals.

I'll be speaking with NBA Elite 11's David Littman later this week, so be on the lookout for that.

I played the demo and I'm really liking the controls.

I think Dave Littman has done it again, just like he did with NHL, in completely changing the controls.

It will take some getting used to, but I liked the control a lot. The game looked good too. A much much better demo than NBA 2K11.

A lot of people will say 2K is better automatically because of Jordan, but Elite 11 looks like it's gonna be a solid game. Can't wait to play them both.

That sucks. From what I'm reading people are saying the PS3 demo looks worse than the Xbox one.

I've played it a few more times and it has its flaws. The players look too skiny imo. The controls take getting used to. Sometime you'll pass when you want to shoot. The turbo button is gone - just like NHL - but I'm so used to pressing RT because that's turbo on NBA 2K.

When I played the 2K demo right after the Elite one, it took me about 2 minutes to get used to the 2K controls.

The real time physics can create some odd collisions in the paint. But overall I liek the new controls and its something they can build on.

I don't think it's nearly as bad as some folks are saying. Is it better than NBA 2K, no. based on the demo 2K will have better gameplay.

Using the Hand-On control is hard, but when you actually pull off a move, it feels good. Similar to completing a pass on Backbreaker. Hard to pull of, but once you get it down it feels good.

I'm gonna be playing both games, but 2K will get more time because of Jordan of course.

I could load the demo now and I played the become a legend mode a couple of times.

My best draft rank so far is 13.

But it really is a lot more difficult than I thought. My biggest problem is crossing someone over and getting by him. And I´m somehow shooting a little too right every time.

Is it only me or is the game slower than Live 10? I mean the players, the ball movements etc.?

As for the controls Kush, you just have to get used to them. Like NHL. ;)

I have to say 2k just about clinched the victory today. They completey overhauled assocation mode. Great article I just read about it today. Kush didn't get a chance to listen to the podcast with him yet so you guys might of touch on this, but this was one of the things I always hated about all NBA games. Glad they finally fixed it

Oh yeah, I'll get used to the controls. I like the controls. When you pull off a nice move, you really feel like you did something. And it does feel like it plays slower than NBA Live 10.

2K Sports

I read that today too. That some pretty impressive stuff.

I love the stuff they are going to do with the crowds. Late arriving fans, fans leaving if the game is a blowout. If you take a bad team, and build them up, more and more fans will come - and vice versa.

Just the fact that they have Jordan and classic Bulls teams gives 2K the nod for me. But their Association mode is one of the best in sports.

Elite's controls are cool. I'll probably play season mode on NBA 2K, along with Jordan Challenge etc.. But I think I'm going to give the Become Legendary Mode a try on Elite.

But the stuff I saw about My Player on 2K looks nice too.

This is why competition is great. If there was no Elite/Live to push 2K, would 2K have all of these changes and improvements? Maybe some, but not all.

It's a good year for basketball games.

I just played the demo and had no chance with the control's. The pass is the L and R2 for PS3. What the hell is up with that? The only advantage I see with Elite is the announcers

The NBA Elite controls are a lot easier to use when you played NHL 10 before.

But the shooting is genious.

Yeah the announcers were the first thing I realized. No more Steve Kerr. Thanks god they had the same sentences since 2005 and it was almost as boring as Neil Funk! :D

Wasn't impressed with the 2K11 demo I played the other day at all. Hope to try this one out soon and hopefully I'll be happier with it.

Don't know if you saw the other thread, but NBA Elite 11 is being delayed. So if you're looking for an NBA game to play, it's gonna be NBA 2K11.

I wasn't blown away with 2K11's demo. It was a bare bones demo. But the whole game should be great. The Jordan factor and the classic teams are huge for me. But the improvements they are making to their franchise mode has me geeked to play it even more.
