Idk who "won" back in 98, but I doubt there will be a winner in this scenario. People don't much like the idea of rich people fighting with even richer people over who gets more of billions of dollars while also trying to screw the other side over (not that I don't expect that to happen because that's just how business works unfortunately). I'm calling no season while hoping I'm dead wrong. Time to find a new sport to watch...

I really don't blame the owners much, here. The NBA isn't like the NFL, where everyone is making truckloads of money and they just have to figure out how to divide it up. 22 teams in the league are losing money. When two-thirds of the franchises are in the red, something is broken and needs to be fixed. I know, I know, some of you will say the owners did this to themselves with their out of control spending, and I don't necessarily disagree with you. But what's done is done, and they need to find a better way to go forward if the league is going to survive and prosper.
