I know this is not a hot topic right now...but i am doing this for an essay...soooo

Can y'all make an arguement for each one...pros and cons? I'll start with what i have?

Also having trouble finding info on this(and i mean real info i dont mean bullshit blogs from no-name fans or from sites like playoffs.com)

much obliged

thanks will be in order:smoke:

Playoffs

Pros:
More fair to top teams....more teams get a chance to win the title
Playoff atmosphere...much like March Madness
Possible increased revenue
does no have to take away all BCS bowl games
No dispute on champion
Popular system
More games

Cons
Takes away some value of regular season
Playoff Snubs
Champion is not always the best team
BCS system has worked ok;tradition
Attendance
Longer season=more possible injuries

BCS

Pros
Traditional games(ex. Rose Bowl)
The best team usually wins the title
Gives regular season more worth
Bowl experiences

Cons
Bowl issues(Fiesta dispute or whatever the heck is going on there)
Dispute on who is champion
Snubs(like TCU and Boise State)
Different than every other postseason system

I'm ok with either. With the BCS, you're going to get the two best teams playing. While with a playoff there could be upsets like in March Madness. But with a playoff there would be a lot more football games, and that can't be a bad thing. We all love football.

ya i'm just not sure which one i can write a better essay on....with the playoffs i can make a better arguement...but i would most likely have less evidence to back it up with...

Yeah a quick google search for articles on playoff support is only bringing up bleacherreport articles. When is the essay due? Maybe you could dig up a little more info on playoff support before then.

That'd be the easiest thing to do. Especially if the outline is due tomorrow. Looks like you have plenty of key points to work with too. And if you need another Pro for the BCS, might want to say something about less games mean less wear and tear on the players bodies. That's the NFL players argument for not wanting an 18 game season. More games, more chances to get hurt.

BCS is fine. Only thing that matters is when a Little league school (Boise, TCU, ETC.) get a chance. If there are more then 2 BCS school teams that are 12-0 then we might hae a problem.

Big pro for BCS is how players get rewarded for their success... If you just made a playoff you can't have a mass amount of teams and the extra INT inclusions like Basketball has got. "The bowl experience for the players" That's a big pro.

ya..that's a big reason for the playoffs push...but the problem you describe happens nearly every year...
