My dad was asking for assistance from me today, and unfortunately I'm not quite sure where to go..so instead of turning to teh googlez...I thought I'd see if you all knew what would work.

In his office at work, he does not have wi-fi...he took a laptop today, but there weren't any wireless networks in range. He was asking what the most affordable way (both initial cost and monthly cost) would be for him to get internet in his office at work. I know that you can buy little things that plug into the USB for the 'net, but honestly I'm kind of ignorant when it comes to this sort of thing.

Anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Unless you know the signal strength. A bridge or booster would be useless to get WiFi.

However, there are phones with 3G/4G hotspot capabilities that actually work pretty well.

OR, he could see if his work allows VPN access, and connect through ethernet on his personal machine.

You'll need internet service. If there is a computer at his work with service, you need to buy a Wireless router and install it to the modem.

What about Air Cards? Are they pretty standard w/ their $60/month rates?

I don't know much about Air Cards, sorry. Hopefully someone else here will though.
