Net 10 Wireless

I currently have uscellular but I'm tired of paying as much as we are for two cell phones. I looked into t - mobile which would save about $60 so I bought an eBay phone and tested the network. Lots of places we go have zero service. I don't think we can deal with that amount of coverage.

So i looked at net 10. They have the gsm and cdma networks and a 2 phone family plan for $75. That would save like $65. But if it uses the gsm network I'm in the same boat as tmobile. How can I make sure I use the Verizon network? Can I get a cdma phone from eBay that will work? What do I need to look for if so?

The most important thing is that the phone you pick up has a radio that supports your networks bands.

I don't know anything about Net10, but I strongly recommend, if possible talk to people who have service in your area. The most important thing when deciding on a carrier (besides price obviously) is coverage, and coverage varies wildly by area. T-Mobile is outstanding where I am and I love it, but that clearly is an issue in your area.

So one, find out what bands Net10 uses, make sure the phone you buy has a radio that supports them. Two try to find reviews of the carrier for your *specific* area, oh, and coverage maps are NOT accurate representations of the coverage you will actually receive.

Yeah, I'd check to see if you can find it online. I bet there's people out there that posted their experience in your area (unless you live in the mega boonies or something)

North Carolina is all mega boonies. I searched all day with no luck.

Is there a Net10 store you can check out, be wary though pretty much every carrier store is going to have a cell tower, mini cell, or other booster equipment. I know for a fact all the major carriers do in, if not all, the vast majority of their corporate stores.

If there's a store that sells all carriers (other than Best Buy since it sounds like they were shitty toward you) that may be a good bet. I don't know if there are Car Toys stores near you.

And Walmart has straight talk, which has been getting good reviews, since it's another middle-man piggyback service. But ST is a multi-carrier piggyback, which might open you up to more options.

No, but T-Mobile has their towers, and other GSM carriers have their own towers. T-Mobile doesn't charge for roaming. I'm just asking, because a common issue with people who buy ebay/unlocked/factory-reset phones, is they don't change the preferred network to allow roaming by default. T-Mobile is spotty for service, but you can still find service anywhere that has a GSM signal on the same band as what the phone supports. According to maps, NC has 100% GSM service. It may not be perfect signal, but it's something. Just double check, if you can't find it, google, or tell me what phone it is, and I(or someone else) will help you.

I very rarely have a problem with T-Mobile's service. I've been with them for quite a few years now, and I've been very happy with the cost and the service.

I have T-Mobile, and have a lot of issues with signal. But I'll deal with it. The extra $100 a month it would cost to actually get a noticeable improvement in signal for the family plan that I'm on, isn't worth a change. Sprint and T-Mobile are pretty much the same for me, coverage-wise. Verizon is just great for signal, but screw that bill.

2 people on their family plan costs 140 for unlimited talk and text and 2 gigs. Don't ask me how its cheaper to be on individual plans, but it is.

I'm all for cheaper, but I have 4 people, $104/m on T-Mobile. If Verizon had something better, I would be all ears. Well, then again, maybe not. I really love having a dual SIM handset, and being able to just pop a sim into a tablet without activating it. I missed SIMs when I did have Verizon and Sprint.

I've had Verizon, I never had service, ever. Constant dropped calls, and it cost me $50 a month before there were such a thing as smart phones. Now I'm on a plan with my dad at T-Mobile. Unlimited Data, unlimited text, free nights and weekends and 1000 minutes between us (which we don't go over since the majority of our minutes are on nights or weekends and free to anyone on T-Mobile) and it costs me $50 a month.

Is that their new plan they advertise? If so, that price requires you to be on their edge plan, which sucks.

My wife and I have their unlimited talk and text with 2 gigs shared and we pay 130 plus taxes.

Any of you ******* that can get MetroPCS in your area, I highly recommend doing so. I pay 60 a month for unlimited everything, including hotspot.
