Wrigley Field is going to sport a removable wall!! Yep. A 30-foot section of brick wall — running along the third-base line on the outfield side of the Cubs dugout — will be transformed into a removable wall to accommodate future special events held at the field. The stats: In the meanwhile, plans are to remove the brick wall — as well as three rows of Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) seats — to accommodate the upcoming football battle between the Northwestern University Wildcats and the University of Illinois’ Fighting Illini scheduled for Nov. 20 at Wrigley Field. The reason: “To prevent a football player from running into a brick wall if he ran off the field during a touchdown,” a source said. Background: “The bricks in the wall section being permanently removed are not historical Wrigley bricks because those were removed and auctioned off four years ago when the CBOE seats were added,” a source said. “Creating a removable wall after the Northwestern game will allow us to do other events in the future and expand the field’s usage.”

Thoughts? That could be cool.

Cool. If it means more money, then I have no problem with it.

That's a really good point. I like that with other reasons. I know people are not liking Ricketts because he's not spending. But, I like what he has done, how he interacts with the fans, has fun and plays around with the team-Wrigley (i.e. Undercover Boss). People need to look at this, he bought the Cubs for 850M and came into a payroll at 140M. Also, he has to pay the workers and coaches and everybody else in the Cubs organization.

Thats a good thing I believe. By allowing other events will help... I agree that if this is all about generating more money...that will be cool

Never, you imbecile. Ricketts has said repeatedly that he will not be building a new stadium. You could read once in a while and you would know that. Hell, I bet Waldo knows that.

Wrigley is STAYING! However, there will be big changes at Wrigley under Ricketts.

Wrigley may stay, but eventually the Cubs are going to need to find a new stadium.
