I've been preaching this but, I honestly believe that the "Car Bomb" is going to be one of those players that we hated while on the opposition but, were going to love on our team ala Rodman and for Sox fans AJ Pierzynski.

i never hated him, i loved it when he hit the ice during the cup because i knew he would do something stupid to benefit the Hawks, I hope he has learned a bit since then....on another note I wonder what those candy asses in wahncouver think about some of the acquisitions stan has made as of late...

This guy might be the single most important addition Bowman made. Maybe not regular seasonwise but once the playoffs start you need guys like this to open up the ice a bit for your skill players. The Hawks never really got rolling vs Vancouver till John Scott hit the ice but as much as I love Scott as a fighter, he is just so lacking in hockey skills that putting him out there was more of a deterent to the Hawks than their opponent at times. Carcillo can play a bit and if he can keep from taking the dumb penalties and only fight or instigate when its called for, he should be a welcome addition.

I agree 100%. He is a gritty fighter/instigator but, what he has that John Scott doesn't is the fact that he can you know, actually play some hockey.

I think Hawks fans are going to like this guy. I live in the Flyers/Capitals country and even though Flyers fans tend to be blithering idiots, they are missing Carcillo already and I do think the Flyers as a team will miss him as well.

If by John Scott you mean Dave Bolland, then I agree.

I'll admit, I HATED the signing of Carcillo at first, and I'm still a bit leery about it. But I am starting to come around a bit. I like the comparisons of Carcillo to Pierzynski, although in my Sox-biased mind I think AJ brings a bit more to the team than Carcillo does.

I saw a stat posted at another website that listed Carcillo's penalties drawn to penalties taken ratio, and it was better than that of both Ben Eager and Adam Burish. If he stays that way, I'll take it.

But if he takes foolish penalties that cost the Hawks goals (and God knows how awful the PK was last year), I'll be the first one to blast Carcillo.

I'm all for giving the guy a shot.

I think the Hawks leadership (coaching and in the locker room) is strong. If the guy is a shitbag, he'll be forced to shape up or hit the road. I still remember being so happy when Barnaby was bought out. HATED that guy.

Meh, we'll see. Hopefully he can toe the edge with only a few trips over it.
