So my friend is selling a case that I really like for super cheap. Its the BitFenix Prodigy M. I really like it. Here are some pics:

I am kind of tired of how big my current case is and I was thinking about getting it from him and transferring my system over. The only problem is that I would need to get a mATX mobo. And since I have a i7 3770K it has to be an 1155 socket. I spent about 15 min looking for a mobo and it looks like they are out of stock everywhere. Am I fucked? Is there nowhere to get new outdated hardware without paying crazy markups?

Turns out I am a fucking moron. I know, go figure. But I actually have a 4770K, not a 3770K. Not really sure how that brain fart happened. So there are plenty of mobos available.

But after thinking about it, I don't think ima do it. I just don't know about the cooling. With 2 GTX 780s in there, seems like it would just get too hot. The same hardware in a mid case already is about as hot as I want to run it continuously.

I just wish you could get an ATX case that did not have all that wasted space at the front for drive bays. Its like 6 inches of length that is like completely unnecessary.

I have this case and it would be perfect if that whole column of bays at the front was just gone.

That appears to be the same case my cousin's system came in. Only thing I don't see are the top carry handles. Super light case right? Mine is brutally heavy although I didn't exactly help the situation by putting all that water cooling into a steel case.

Oh no I was talking about your current case, not this Bitfenix case.

Breh, take a dremel to that ***** if you want to remove those drive bays. Recently got my new dremel last week. Already did two mods to my system. First one was a little custom touch on the drive bay cover below my reservoir. I made a centered cutout for an illuminated RADEON logo, though I am still waiting on the power cable for it. Going to be waiting for a while since its coming from China. Moddiy.com is the shit, but you will be waiting a while for anything ordered from them.

God dammit, I have no idea why it won't orient the image properly. It forces landscape orientation on a portrait oriented picture.

I don't want to just remove the bays. I want the whole case shortened the length of the bays, give or take.

I want to chop this whole section off entirely:

the case I have right now is the corsair 550D. Its a fucking great case with great airflow and noise proofing. Just bugs me how long it is when I don't really need that space at all

Oh I see what you mean. That would be some legit fabricating then. You basically want a custom form factor. Its like a combination of Micro ATX and Mini ITX. I am quite fond of those cube style cases that have the motherboard in a horizontal orientation. Fairly compact design that can still manage to fit some legit water cooling in it.

My problem is that I want to stick with ATX. Whatever. I am fine with my current case. Just don't like the unused space at the front, especially since it sits out past my desk.

I mean with a little time and the right tools its certainly doable mane. A precision metal cutter, riveting tools, a drill and some metal grinding/polishing tool is about all you need. It would certainly be a highly unique build.

I was a giant geek in high school and loved doing custom builds. Back then I was more interested in challenging myself to do something I had never done than make much money off it. I would actually build someone a custom rig for $200 and they would pay for all the parts and materials. It was fun but I just don't have the patience for that anymore unless I am doing a build for myself since I only do that every like 5-7 years anyways.

What you want is called a bayless option. With more users sticking to m.2 and dedicated PCIe storage, the bayless cases have been showing up for around the last 3-4 years in the standard consumer market. There are also NetWare cases that do not have drivebays, and they have existed since the 1960's in most major form factors, as they were designed to only boot to and from a network.

I have a freesco router/wall like this in an old IBM valuepoint server 3U case. No drives, just MB, PSU, Ram, and 3 NICs and one 802.11 card.
