New Chicago Bullseye 116 - Team USA on their way to the gold. Does anyone care?

I personally like this USA & enjoy it more then the Olympic team of '08 for a few reasons.

- No one is trying to be the huge ego to lead the team.
- They play rather well together in such a short period of time.
- Rose, Durant, Gordon & company are just more fun for me to watch.

They've kicked off all those ego guys from the team because those guys no longer beat international teams.

I've watched every game so far, and a few others. I love basketball, so of course I care. But what is there to talk about, the talent on the international level is so inconsistent.

i hope they win gold.

I like rose's play, but he's playing a team oriented game. his jumper still looks good. his ability to drive past defenders is amazing. With that said, it's hard to marvel at his amazing talent, when he really is just trying to go with the flow/get others involved. Derrick rose has another gear, and he really hasn't displayed it during the fiba games. In spite of that, he's still solid. Also his distributing ability appears rather average, but his defense seems a little better. you still find him getting beaten around screens etc.

Hey Stig,

Fred's a little on the slow side. It has taken him a while to figure out how to log in. We talked today and as VDN would say, "Fred is making some positive steps and has been putting in some hard work to get his account up and running." I think he will be posting within the next week. In the meantime...YOU GOT ME!!! yeay!

Rose definantly does have another gear and I find that it takes him some time to feel comfortable to put himself in that gear. So far, I havent seen too much dominance from him on Team USA. It just sucks because FIBA at least gives him some global exposure and all my friends who are watching are all like "Yea, that Rose guys you keep talking about is very overrated"....and I have to be like "you just wait! you will see...." as I cry and piss my pants.

the media coverage is so stupid... people calling team usa "lethargic," after beating tunisia by 37 points. 37! what is lethargic about that?

its gold or bust this year. and a great oppurtunity for the up and coming stars to showcase their talent to the rest of the world. its the start of the grooming process for the next poster boys of the nba — kevin durant, derrick rose, etc. — to replace kobe and lebron when they finish their run.

the play is sloppy overall, lots of turnovers and fast breaks, the rest are iso plays. basically looks like a pick up game (aside from the close one against brazil). like a few have mentioned already — its a slow time in basketball world, and id rather watch this than wnba (which, i do resort to on odd-numbered years. im only mildly ashamed.)

I want us to win it all of course. And I was talking with Mark the other day about this, Rose is playing a role on this team. He's the distributor & he's doing a very good job of that. In a trib article the other day, he talked about vets like Billups & Odom giving him props for calling good plays out on the court, something that means alot to him to hear. As for him dominating, well it's a tough thing. In the halfcourt they are running Coach K's Duke offense which is not geared toward PG play. It is geared toward wing players, that's why Durant , Iggy, ***, & Gordon are getting the majority of plays run for them. Also, the starters are dominating so much that it's fairly unnecessary to play them in the 2nd half sometimes so Rose is getting the majority of his time in the 1st half. As the games get more intense, I expect Rose to start looking for his offense more & Coach K encouraging this, but at this point, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Man I can't wait til Oct. 5!

Jerseychaser is a website that is handled by Kris Johnson, formerly of UCLA, he was on the championship team. Cool dude. He gets good info but I didn't know he reported the Carmelo stuff until listening to your site and seeing someone else cite him as a source on twitter.

You guys should try to get him on your show. He is really good and knows basketball globally, he played overseas and knows a lot of players. I argue with him all the time, he allows me my say and is patient with my twitter rants...lol
