The key to making sculptures is to start with a strong foundation. I always drill down to 3,000 feet before i begin my sculpture to make sure I have a firm base of bedrock from which to sculpt. And always far away from fault lines. If the earth shifts under your sculpture you can kiss your proportions goodbye
