New Xbox 360 Coming, Project Natal Renamed to Kinect And More

500x_slim360.jpg

Also Project Natal's new name is apparently "Kinect"...

but with built in Wifi and 250 GB's, I might actually buy a 360 now. Keyword, MIGHT.

Damn, I gotta get me one of those X-Box's when they come out. I'll just use the 360 I have now as a 'take around' to friends houses and travel. Hopefully those won't get RROD so frequently.

Hopefully they took their time making this one so there isn't a 50% failure rate like with the original 360s.

Built in wi-fi is nice so you don't have to drop 100 bucks on their adapter, but I'm sure it's built into the price. I wonder how much?

Built in wi-fi, 250 hard drive, $399?

Am I the only only one who had no interest in Poject Natal, or Kinect?

I've had a Wii since it came out. And it was cool and different at first, but then I just came to realize that I prefer playing my video games with a traditional controller.

But with the success of the Wii, Xbox and Sony are coming out with their own motion sensor game devices/controllers. I really have no interest in them.

Is anyone excited for Project Natal or Move?

I have zero interest in the Move (or Kinect, though i don't own a 360). If I want to play motion games, i'll just play them on my Wii. Though, I do hear that the Move is already more accurate than the Wiimote, so that might make me just sell my Wii.

And you aren't the only one, Kush, who isn't interested in these. Read a survey the other day saying 4 out of 50 360 owners want the Kinect, 3 out of 50 PS3 owners want the Move.
Here's that survey article US Survey: 4/50 X360 Owners Want Natal, 3/50 PS3 Owners Want Move - gamrFeed

Interesting survey.

I was reading some of the comments below and people were saying it doens't matter because Sony and xbox are targeting people who don't won PS3s or Xboxes. Kinda like people who never played video games have a Wii.

But the Wii is different since it has that kids appeal. Mario all that jazz. I don't see casula gamers dropping 300 or 400 bucks on a PS3 just because they like Move. Easier for a casual gamer to drop 199 on a Wii.

So I think MS and Sony need current owners to buy Move and Kinect.

Yep, and thats why I think both of these aren't going to do very well in the long run. I mean, in the area I live, nearly every family owns a Wii. And if those families have a teenager, then they own a 360 too. I just don't think people who own both systems (or if they own a PS3 and a Wii) are going to buy the extra $100 peripherals on their other system, and will just stick to their Wii for motion sensing stuff. Unless SOCOM 4 has a really big following (I'm only a fan of the first one) and alot of people buy the Move for so they can use it for SOCOM 4. I just don't see these succeeding in the long run. But maybe with the popularity of the Wii, and if this is the direction that video games are headed, then maybe these will do good.

Yeah, that's a great price. I'm surprised. Considering that when the 120 GB HDD came out it was 200 bucks. And the wireless adapters are still $100.

So $299 isn't bad at all. And the arcade version only being $149 is a sweet deal too.

The Kinect is gonna be 150, dont know if that was in here.

I was interested in it, and still sort of am, but not at 150. The 150 isnt bad, but all the games that were demoed yesterday are also 60 bucks. This is just terrible.

I think Kinect had a shot to be big, but not anymore.

Really? I did not see that yet.

And like I wrote earlier in this post, I have no interest in Kinect. Especially not at $150 bucks.

And 60 bucks for Kinect games? At least the Wii games were 50 and less.

Yeah, I'm not dropping $60 to play around with Skittles.

I don't think this will do well. Especially with a $150 price tag. I can't see existing 360 owners dropping that much on it.

And if you want new users (people who never owned a 360) they are gonna have to buy a Xbox for at leas 200, 150 for Natal and 60 for games. That's a lot to ask.

I read that the Arcade Xbox will just be sold until they're gone. So the lowest 360, eventually, will be $200.

I thought MS's press conference was really solid. Sure, it had some faults, but fun to watch overall. Yet, 60% of the gaming community disagrees with my opinion saying that I'm, "full of shit."

All I'll say to that is that half of them who are criticizing Kinect will eat their words and buy one within 6-12 months of its release. But nuts to them, as I'll be enjoying ESPN on the 360.

It's the Wii speculation all over again.

ESPN 3 on 360 will be nice. Just another reason to not need cable.

Some people will like Kinect, I personally have zero interest in it. I just don't have any interest in motion control games. And 150 bucks is a lot.

The Wii was 250 but that was a console. Kinect is an add on. I just can't see someone, who already has a Wii because of the motion play, going out and buying a 360 and a Kinect. Plus Kinect-specific game for 60 bucks.

So I think MS needs current Xbox owners to really buy into this. I'm not sure they will. If they do, they probably already own a Wii.

I'll try it for a while, but I doubt it will hold my attention. Maybe my kids will like it.

you dont even need to drop the $100 on an adapter, you can use your laptop. You just hook a USB cable up to your laptop, make a network bridge connection between your wifi and 360 and poof, you're on xbox live plus you saved $100 for when you get the RROD

All prices at this point is speculation, as there's no formal announcement (to my knowledge anyway, I could be wrong) of a price for the add-on. Again, I could be wrong about that.

I'm alright with people not liking the Kinect (I should have made that point :/ ), but hating it because of the "casual b.s. coming out for it," that's pretty sad if you ask me.
