He basically said to the ref, if one ref calls it a TD and the other doesn't shouldn't that be automatically reviewed?

Every game I have seen since that rule, refs have called the too-close-to-tell plays a TD and then sorted it out in the booth.
But not in this case. That goal line series was totally fucked. On all three runs there was indisputable footage of the ball crossing the plane with Bush still off the ground.
I've never seen anything like that before. I think even the pass to Bennett was a TD. Fucking 4 TDs in a row. I would love to see a gif of just those 4 plays.
Martellus dropped that ball on his way to the ground.
Speaking solely as a guy who wears the stripes on the weekends, and not a Bears fan in this instance, I think that goal line series was handled correctly by the refs. My guess is they said no touchdown on first down, because it was first down. It's kind of a cop out, but I don't think you can reasonably say the ball was across the goal line before the knee hit. There was just no evidence of it on the replay. If it were any other team than the Bears, my guess is that everybody would agree.
As for the pass on second down, meh - I'd like to see a replay of that again. Third down run, same as first down. In the end, they got the ball in the end zone which is all that matters and in the end the clock was running on first, second, and fourth down. I'll take that any day of the week.
In ref speak, we talk about 'surviving the hit, surviving the ground' when it comes to a catch. Like you, I don't think I saw many replays of that, but from what TJ is saying it doesn't sound like MB survived the ground.*I thought maybe I saw it squirt out, but it did look like he got both feet in and I thought the first signal was that he was out. But there was no fucking replay so I only got the one look at it.
Still, the most fucked series I've ever witnessed.
I agree, without being a homer I think they were all TDs and with the new rule why the hell did they not call the first one (which definitely was a TD)to be able go to replay.... Makes no sense since one of the refs already had it as a TD... Homefield call in a big wayEvery game I have seen since that rule, refs have called the too-close-to-tell plays a TD and then sorted it out in the booth.

Nope.
This is why I didn't like the, every scoring play is reviewed rule. Its made it so refs refuse to review close to touchdown plays on their own... And all those need to be challenged.
Fucking A on Tapatalk
You're right, I forgot that they pulled the same shit with the Bennett TD...And then they did the SAME shit on Conte's pick and Bennett's TD. So many bad calls in that game all of which circumvented the auto review rule.

Alright. Two different perspectives I guess.I have to call bullshit. You could see it clearly from the footage on all 3 runs. Was very clear. And I get one blown call. But that was too many in a row and they even blew the review.
On the review there was an angle the indisputably showed that no part of Bush's body touched the ground until he landed on his hip - at which point he was well into the endzone.
Yeah, I only saw one replay of it and it was a terrible angle. They did call it out of bounds originally, but then they never did any explanation after the look at his feet as to what the amended call was. It really was a bizarre series.
