Welp I dont have X Box Live Gold, and Im not going to buy it just for one demo so im going to have to wait a week...

Equipment-whore GB41 asks: are the reebok 10k helmet or bauer 4500 helmet back in this year? Should be able to tell from the demo.

It really bothered me that they werent in last year. Probably 60% of skaters wear one of those 2 helmets and they arent even options in the game.

Yet you can have any color fruity tinted visor that you could possibly want...

I love it. Love the physical play, corner battles, and net crashing. I still cant get Luongo to fight and I hit him after every whistle

Played one game.

I injured Burrows with an interference cheap shot. He totally didn't see it coming; lit him up something fierce. No penalty - must have been Auger refereeing. :shifty: Call 911!!!

Knocked Luuuu around a few times, knocking off his helmet. No goalie fight, though. Kinda fun seeing the goalies more involved.

Fought Bieksa...and kicked his ass. It didn't seem any different.

Will jack around with it more tomorrow. The play of it seemed a little different than '11 to me.

I definitely like the gameplay changes. The defense is much less helpless than it has been in previous games, for the AI and for me. Definitely a nice peek at how im going to spend about 75% of my free time over the next year.

In the short amount of time that I played I was impressed with the AI improvement. I know that's one thing they tried really hard to fix.

But it's possible that I just didn't play long enough to get used to their patterns.

My review:

UT- Seems like the best game mode this year, not having played legends yet...I still believe majority of my time will be on UT. The cards look bad ass and not so generic looking, ya know that 1985 TOPPS baseball card look. Im curious this year on who the rare players will be like how Ovie and Crosby were last year. Nice how they added injury cards to the game as well.

Gameplay- Here is where im a little pissed off. The skating and the moves seem pretty much the same, I tried a few glitch goals from last year and had no issue scoring. The goalies were supposed to be more fluent with their movement, they arent. Sure its cool that the net comes off and helmets as well and the rare goalie fights and glass breaking, but the overall improvement on the actual gameplay so far is slight at best.

AI seems a tad better, but they are still stupid as ****.

curve shot still works
short side still works
wrap around still works
slap shot seems a bit harder to score on

So far i hope there is some improvements made

I have been doing the slap shots, and about 70% go in. Also the little wrap around and spin the opposite way goes in every time, kinda ***

Im just saying the slap shot isnt as strong, but that will change once you are a legend with all of the attribute applied.

I may stick with UT this year. I have a feeling I will get pissed off on OTP.

Hopefully they can "tuner update" some of those going in.

I'm confident, because if you go back and play the NHL 11 demo, than go play NHL 11, they are hardly the same. Usually the actual game is improved for the better due to tuner updates/patches etc.
