Sorta related, but the NHL punishes Devils for the 1st Kovy contract (after its use of extortion):

--fined 3mil (cash, not space)
--lose 3rd rounder next year
--lose a 1st rounder of the Devils's choice in any of the next 4 years (have to inform the NHL day after Cup if the upcoming pick will be the one forfeited).

Whatcha think? Too harsh, too easy? I'm thinkin' it was alright...I could see points of view from both sides, so that's why I'm okay with it.

I was surpised that anthing actually happened at all. For some reason I was under the impression it was just a "hey, no more after this" situation. I realize it was the frst contract offer that got fined but I was still was surprised. As for the punishment, since the 3 mil doesn't count against their cap I don't think it was to harsh. That first rounder is a kick in the teeth though!
