Amazing mind....but an awfully naive businessman. He pretty much let everyone take advantage of him and steal his ideas for their own financial gain, while he died penniless. He deserved a lot better.

It goes to show how cutthroat business is. Edison, Westinghouse, and Marconi were all absolute slime.

Weird thread. Maybe he gave away his ideas on purpose? Not everyone is out there to profit on ever single thing.

If you like Tesla, you'll love Maxwell and Ohm. Whom together have discovered or influenced 95% of all things electricity in humanity.

BTW, I love Tesla. But I also know he has worshipers that don't accept any criticisms of him. Tesla was not a martyr, and that is simply a myth. He patented quite a bit, but he was late to the punch on some developments and pretty crazy. Obsessed with concepts that did little for the world and blew his money trying to make bad ideas work.

Again, I think he's awesome. But let's not make him into something he was not.

He had an agreement with Westinghouse that would pay him $2 per kilowatt of power sold. Investors got worried at this agreement so Westinghouse went to him and told him he couldn't pay him that amount and asked him to rip up the contract. Instead of renegotiating a lesser deal he ripped up the contract. That was a huge mistake obviously because that took away any legal recourse. Westinghouse paid him nothing going forward.

It was a poor decision on Tesla's part, one of many that led to him penniless at death.

Tesla was an interesting dude. Brilliant in many ways and ahead of his time. Business mind not so much.
