So the Bulls have pretty much fell out of the running for Superstar Carmelo Anthony what a surprise. I guess this we can file this rumor under the great players John Paxson has failed to acquire. Over his tenure as Bulls GM and team President he team has been in talks to acquire Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Kevin Garnett, and Chris Bosh to name a few.

Paxson has been determined not to give up on any of his drafted players until it is too late. In the past the player who Paxson could not give up in a trade was Loul Deng. Now the Bulls cannot wait to get rid of him.

Story of Paxson's tenure really, always close, but always afraid to pull the trigger. Paxson has quietly been a real disappointment as a GM.

I think some people just look at having Rose and the current team and think he's done okay.

If you look at it though, how many Top 10 picks does a guy get? If it weren't for lucking into D-Rose, this is a giant turdball right now.

Btw, does anybody know who the T-Wolves/Grizzlies wanted for Garnett/Gasol? Wasn't it Gordon and Deng?

i've always been in favor of trading for melo, but here's the truth guys. we dont have a leg to stand on. we dont have cap space, we wont have cap sapce in the near future, and truth be told, denver doesn't really want our guys. Us not getting melo is not something we should blame on management until it comes out that denver is willing trade for either deng or noah.

Kevin McHale said the Bulls never had a chance at Garnett. As for Gasol we had a trade done with Chris Wallace their GM. Then the owner nixed the trade and did the deal with LA without telling us. As for the draft what has been so awful about his picks. He screwed up on one pick and everything else has turned out pretty good. What draft picks are upset about besides LA over Tyrus?

I have never heard that before...Got a source?

My understanding of the Gasol deal is that we had a dangling expiring contract in 2007, but Jerry West was the GM then and wanted equal talent in return for Gasol. That wasnt going to happen. In 08, West was out, we no longer had an expiring contract and thus the Lakers had Kwame Brown and were able to steal away Gasol.

We had the necessary expirings. We could have did what dallas did with van horn but with pj brown. We could have signed and traded him to make the deal work but JR didn't want to pay the lt and instead kept pushing noce in the deal.

Wouldnt PJ Brown have to agree to this? My understand is Brown wanted to rest until after the deadline and then go and play with a contender (Which he did and won a ring then)...If we signed him and traded him to Memphis, Memphis would have to agree to release him immediately..which is not guaranteed. So to me its alot harder than anyone thinks.

PJ Brown was waiting for that type of deal. He would have gotten an unguarnteed deal and been cut right after getting to memphis with enough time to join a contender. And for all of that work, he'd have made a couple of mil. This trade would have pushed us into the LT. Thats why Jerry didn't want it and he kept pushing Noce in instead. Had we done that, we would have easily gotten Gasol because it would have saved memphis an additional 7mill over what LA gave them and our picks were better.

Oh yeah, you're right...that lovely luxury tax...Reinsdorf has said he would only pay for a contender. Gasol wouldnt have made that team a contender in 07-08 (And in all likelyhood would have screwed up our chances to get Derrick Rose).

Got to give credit to JR for seeing that 1.7% chance.

Exactly. The whiney fans will ignore these facts.
