I don't understand how dense some people are. Derrick Rose "for a lottery pick." Cool. Okay. So, there's a team out there that magically has $18 million in cap space that'll just send over a trade exception and give us a lottery pick for a guy who's still owed $60 million on a completely uninsured contract and there's no conventional wisdom that exists in which he'll return to his MVP form. Anyone who thinks that the Bulls haven't been shopping their entire roster over the last 18 months that's not named Derrick Rose is fucking nuts. Conversations happen daily. 95% of the time they remain just that -- conversation. Mutual interest has to exist between both parties.
I'm sure you'd love to trade Carlos Boozer and some fodder for Kevin Love. I'm sure anyone who has a rooting interest in the Bulls would love to do it. But would the Wolves realistically deal one of the 10 best players in the league for Carlos Boozer? Highly doubt it.
I love the absurd conjecture people throw around this board.
"LOLOLOL IF I WAS THE GM PLAYER X WOULD'VE BEEN HERE IN A HEARTBEAT."
It's flabbergasting to me that people just think a GM calls up another team and deals are facilitated without any kind of bargaining, research on asset retention, etc.
"Hey guys, this is Gar Forman. I want LaMarcus Aldridge. I'm emailing you a proposal that'll send you Carlos Boozer, the rights to Mirotic, our first rounder for '14 with some lottery protections for a few years, and you can pick any other player on our roster making under 3 million not named Jimmy Butler. Just go ahead and sign my proposal and send over his medical files. I'll buy the plane tickets. Thanks again!"
"Cool, we'll get right on that, Gar. We're glad to send over the best player our franchise has had since a young Rasheed Wallace for 60 cents on the dollar! Let's go another deal closer to the deadline!"
