Wait so the Red Stars won't be playing this season? I'm not familiar with the women's leagues

No, the Red Stars used to be in the WPS, but went down to the amateur WPSL (though they themselves are still professional). Now the WPS isn't playing, so the WPSL (which the Red Stars are in now) is the 1st division league for next season.

That is accurate.

The women's league isn't really my beg, but I support them. I find it really sad that they cannot find stable ownership (which they deserve), especially when you look at how well the USWNT does, and figure that these ladies have to learn to play and ply their trade somewhere--too bad it isn't going to be in domestic leagues.
